You're right you need a team, but LeBron isn't some outlier example. Boston team up worked. Miami team up worked. Gs kd team up worked. Kd was a toe on the line from making the nets team up work, but they would have been an outlier team up in the way
The examples that worked? They were a perfect storm of cap space and cap going up and star free agents or disgruntled star trade with little going out. Nets and Suns and Chuck Rockets failures are more to do with trading away depth for the star. That doesn't work.
Boston, Miami, GS was stacked with star and role player talent because all the stars aligned for their super teams to come together. Its rare and difficult. If any of the worst teams the last several years drafted absolute studs ready to explode and they get wemby with tons of cap, one of those teams has a chance of being the next team up location for a star free agent or two.

This also has more to do with context vs KD cant do the team up success like Lebron. Like we know, a toe changes everything. Harden bailed and Kyrie went Kyrie. Now they go through the semis without cp3 and no ayton in a do or die game. Kd just can't catch a break, but they still lost too much depth and key players to get KD.

That Boston team was formed after each of the 3 stars tried their best to carry their teams through their primes and were exiting their prime before that happened. The entire team up culture is LeBrons influence. KD was just trying to keep up with Lebron teaming up every few years.
