Archetype my ass. But...even @maj21 has lucid moments, and that's what I like about him. It's like he really doesn't like Sengun/Sengun's "archetype", but sometimes even he grudgingly sees how good he is. And that inner conflict will only get worse for @maj21 lol because Sengun will just keep getting better . So if Jokic is doing quite alright...and Sengun has more defensive potential even according to his harshest critics...and Green will be better than Murray...and Jabari will improve by leaps and bounds...and we have Tari...and a top pick...and cap space... then... ...the future is bright! Don't break up this core of Alpi, Tari, Green, Bari.
Yes, that was a problem with jokic in previous seasons. Things are going differently this time and he’s playing out of his mind. Sengun is not that, I’m sry
So you admit you were wrong about Jokic, but you are just as sure now (as you were about Jokic) that you won't be wrong about Sengun? Okay.
Your previous statements were that he "would get played off the floor in the playoffs" - not happening. Two teams with centers as their franchise players doing very well (especially in combination with a very good guard) - Jokic and Embiid. All this talk of "you don't win with centers, the NBA has changed" was horseshit.
When a mf is dropping 53 points, you’ll deal with whatever defensive shortcomings. You saw what happened to Sabonis, who’s a more realistic ceiling for Sengun. This is like trying to compare Jalen to Kobe or MJ.
No, Jokic is the more realistic ceiling. Sabonis at 20 was nowhere near as good as Alpi. Also, Sabonis wasn't terrible against GSW either, Curry just went into God mode. Happens. All three players at 20 compared. Alpi and Jokic very similar, Sabonis, not so much.
So based on your logic in how development goes, KPJ ceiling is James Harden. Their numbers are very similar the first years of their career, actually KPJ put up more numbers. Sooooo…. Remember how good MCW and Tyreke Evans were at first? Did they keep developing at that rate?
I don't know - I think he is more focused on just getting the team to win. He seems to be looking for the pass first, if in doubt. Would he have the ability? Yes. But maybe he needs to become more assertive in certain situations. Alpi's career-high is 33 (against Lebron and the Lakers). Jokic had one 40 point game in his second season and one in his third season. I think Alpi should keep working on his jump shot all the way to 3-point range. That will make him even more unstoppable. I'd like to see him go for 40 at some point next season.
This is a fair comment - nothing is 100 % certain - best I can respond with is my "eye test" just like you are using yours. We don't know for sure what their future trajectory looks like. Just based on historical evidence, I know of few players with major character issues reported from age 18-22 (including getting arrested with a weapon and drugs, throwing soup, leaving the game at halftime, etc.) who later on became as good as Harden. I do know that players who won MVP titles in Europe at an extremely young age, before coming to the NBA, have historically done ok. Doncic won Euroleague MVP at 18 or 19 or so. Alpi won the Turkish league MVP title at 18. And when I look at their basketball IQ, Alpi's just seems better than KPJ's to me, character issues aside.
We shall see man. Jokic is a really high ceiling. Sengun is also a couple inches shorter and about 40 lbs lighter. Jokic has the size advantage over players, whereas Sengun is undersized. Hard to say someone will be an all time great like jokic
I think they played better when Sabonis was on the bench. I think he had good games in that series but when he was bad he was unplayable and i don't think it was because of his defense it was his offense. Sabonis is a good post player but he has no counters and always going on his left hand so Looney figured him out. Sengun is far more versatile in the post i think.
I have to give props to Scoot Porter jr. because he surely had a serviceable season. The glaring issues. He is not a primary PG. He has character issues, some anger management issues. He has bad body language and dribbles too much. He has tunnel vision at times. Spotty Defense. He is also a little injury prone. He is a decent shooter and a decent scorer.
These Sengunatics man... Joker's talent is just different. He's significantly bigger, he's a legit sniper from anywhere on the court, and his touch around the rim is unmatched by probably anyone else in the league. On top of all those advantages he's also the best passer in the league. Just stop, seriously.
