Tim Duncan was the same way with his dogmatic insistence he wasn't a center. Not sure if he ever dropped it. I don't get it, it must be an ego thing or something. Who cares what your 1980s era positional basketball label is? Don't you want your optimal lineups on the court as much as you can?
It saves wear and tear. Thats the reason Pops made TD a PF so he can have random dudes like Rashtovic or w/e get mauled by Shaq instead of TD. Same thing with Lebron and AD, they wanna play the smaller role for less wear and tear. Although in TD's case he'd be GOAT PF if he is a PF and and not arguably a top 10 center thats why he wants to be called a PF.
Tim Duncan is the greatest power forward ever, but around the eighth best center. The center position takes the biggest beating. Embid and Jokic have recovered some of the lost prestige, but those dudes take a beating. Davis knows his body can't take the beating.
First of all he’s just being evaluated so there is that. But even if he is out for a few weeks something tells me Lebron and the refs are going to be just fine!
So there are people who hate CP3 enough to not hate Scott Foster? This is an interesting study in human psychology. (I think this is exactly how politics works.) PS Scott Foster was voted the worst ref in a survey of players and coaches years ago. If he isn't universally hated its because fans haven't faced him in the playoffs against a California team yet.
That's not true anymore though This isn't 1995 when centers are trying to shove Stanley Roberts out of the low block. This is the pace and space era where a big bas to guard 5 positions or be humiliated and risk his knees on every possession. Frankly the ability to only have to guard the dunker spot when hes not setting a ball screen is probably a luxury (this is why Harden ends up in the post alot clowning teams into "mismatches") Most teams play with one big man if they can, because 2 is a liability.
Suns should win this. Im not seeing alot of ticky tack fouls being called. I can see Tony Brothers reffing next game though
AD's career isn't made for deep playoff runs year after year...watching him reminds me of watching Yao/Tmac...every grimace and wince and you're like "Uh oh..."
