Uh yeah, I'd trade the whole T-Mac Yao era for 1 season where we went to the Western Conf Finals. I can handle mediocrity way better than heartbreak.
maybe, but i'm not sure you're ever doing much with gallo and SGA either. nice players but non-max guys who you end up paying a lot. really just comes down to the picks.
Does PG really believe he bestowed some kind of insight with that statement? My God, a moron could do as good.
I’m with you, but to me the T-Mac-Yao era was pretty mediocre. They never even got out of the first round. The Harden era has been more heartbreaking so far, because his teams have been on the cusp of greatness several times.
Pretty bad. We’re killing Gordon, and he just shot .411, .300, .333 in the first three games. Cue Marv Albert: “at some point you’ve got to stop shooting”
They have trash shooters. A great playmaker can make things easier for a trash shooter, but they still trash. Lipstick on a pig.
I'm contrasting mediocre season vs heartbreak. In this scenario, TMac and Yao being perennial all-stars that never broke out of the 1st round is more heartbreaking than mediocre. So like 7 seasons of 1st round exits being traded for 1 WCF appearance is a great deal. Harden has been to WCF twice now, that's not heartbreaking because he wasn't stuck in the 1st round.
I almost forgot and had to look this up again: Paul George was traded to the Clippers for SGA, Gallo, the Clippers first round picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026, along with two first-round choices via Miami (2021 and 2023) and the right to swap first-round picks in 2023 and 2025. Insane
