Man, these guards are terrible!!! There are so many stupid shots, so many stupid turnovers; dribbled out of bounds, carries and miss passes!!! Those mistakes are what JV high school guards do! Also, do those guards know what a fast break is?

Ming: 26 minutes, 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 fouls. He played so bad today.

For those of you who dont understand the stupid tourney format.
China has 3 more games against the other teams in their bracket which they have not played yet/

    Russia, New Zealand, and Argentina....
Maybe Emanueal Ginobili will be dunk on Yao :(.

Anyhow...their record from this round carries over...So unless they win all 3 games..and have some help..they wont advance anymore.

But at least we get 3 more games!

10 points, 6 boards, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Not bad considering the guards froze him out of the offense for whatever reason.

Did you see the game? Or were you being sarcastic?Because as far as I could tell, he played pretty well. The first 3 fouls were borderline, but they caused Ming to not play so aggressive. He could have had 2 or 3 more blks. Not to mention that Yao never got a pass when he was open, but always passed to an open man.

wee-haw! I finally figured out how to post messages with my dreamcast... it has told me for a year (no matter how much I typed in message field) that there were no characters in message field ("complete message field")... just in time for the game to be over... now to figure out smilies... my joy is indescribable... I've been silenced for so long...

thanks for listening... and sharing this moment with me. Sorry for my sarcasm about the stat/score thing...

    ROCKETS RRRRRRRRUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't his best game, but he showed a lot of skills. On defense, he had a definite presence. The US team was very aware of him in the paint. On offense, he showed he could shoot, pass, post-up, and set picks.

Kelvin Cato can't do any of these things. Ming is a huge upgrade.
I think I'm more impressed by this game than by his stats from the Algeria game.

Well this should cheer you guys up a bit. Against the "elite" teams in the tournament (Germany, United States), Ming's numbers: 13 ppg. 7.3 rpg. 3 bpg. Not bad at all. Ming's overall numbers in official tournament aciton:

    21.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 3.6 bpg.

Ming is still impressing. When an off game is a near double-double, and he's only 21 years old, we are in business! :)

Coming into this game Batere's numbers weren't as impressive as Ming's but they were still VERY impressive! 16 ppg, 6 rpg, 50% shooting. This guy can start for a lot of teams!

The only reason Yao didn't have a "great" game tonight, was because of the pathetic Chinese strategy. They need a better coach that can tell the guards to pass the ball to their superstar center. I was impressed with Yao's performance when he got the ball, and he is definitely an intimidating presence in the middle. This guy is going to play very well when he is surrounded by the talent of the Houston Rockets, and coach Rudy T.

Here is what I think of the Chinese coach:

Is that the coach? I thought it was another guy. Maybe he just looks different there.

Look at Wallace, Brand, Oneal and Davis' stats, they all took more shots than Yao did, yet had lower FG% and scored less than Yao. It's an off game for Yao. He got into foul trouble and frozen out of the offense yet he still played better than any US big man offensively. He could do a lot better defensively if he's not afraid of contact due to foul trouble. B- overall.

On a different note, the Rockets look like they finally have a real center again. Ming does need to add upper body strength, but he is going to be a force.
