Hehe, your team beat the Hornets so bad the other night, it brought back memories of when I was a senior in high school (18 LONG years ago) and I played on a church league team that was absolutely pathetic. We got our asses handed to us on a WEEKLY basis and one game, in particular, we lost 77-20 which was 1 point less than what your boys did to the toothless Hornets. Anyway, I was so upset at getting murdered like that, that I refused to shake anyone's hands (I was quite the hothead when I was 17 and on the basketball court) and I told a guy on the other team who was one of my best friends that I was about to punch him in the mouth, LOL!

Anyway, getting back to this pretty much ordained series...

I know it looks like I don't give the Nuggets any love but I feel that Dallas is a bad matchup for them. What A3PO said is pretty much dead-on. The Mavs have much better shooters than NOLA, a healthier team, and better bench. This series goes 7 and if Denver isn't careful, the Mavs could beat them in 6. With that being said, though, Dallas is a bad matchup for most teams in the west with the exception of the Jazz (who are already gone, thankfully), the Lakers and possibly Portland.

i agree with the OP. Nuggets are going to win. hornets do not have the offense to come back in this series. that said, its going to be nuggets in 5 against the mavs. Mavs got lucky being matched up against the spurs. Spurs might be the worst offensive team in the west playoffs. except for parker they have no one(not counting duncan cause he his on his last legs). Denver is more focused than any other team in the west. they are even more focused than the lakers. Man i did not know billups is such a great leader. mavs are going to be blown out in most of these games. The barea's and bass's of world are not gonna be save the mavdicks.

Oh And i cannot stand that fact that the mavs have advanced to the second rd before the rockets.

i dont agree with you. In the regular season, denver swept the mavs 4-0 and hornets beat them 3-1. no matter what team wins the nuggs-hornets series(nuggets more likely), mavs are NOT going to west finals. They beat up the "no offense" spurs and suddenly they are good.sorry mavs are soft jumpshooting team. denver will win it in 5.

    Denver in 4... mayyyybe 5

A lot of mavs homers on this board.
Denver has swept the mavs 4 games to 0 in the regular season this year.
It is one thing to beat a hobbled spurs that have 1 legit scoring option, it is another to beat an athletic nuggets.

Look, I understand where you are coming from and let me tell you - there is no one who hates the Mavericks more than me. I just want to take Mark Cuban and punch his face in!

However, I can't deny that there is probably no other team right now that is playing together as a TEAM and is as red-hot as the Mavericks. Add on the fact that the Nuggets played a pretty hapless and toothless Hornets team, I think that Denver is going to have their hands full, regardless of the fact that they swept them in the regular season. I think it is safe to say that Dallas is peaking at the time you would want to peak. And yes, I also understand that the Spurs were old and beat-up and made the Mavericks look better than they are but you don't think the same could be said for NOLA, especially after their epic tap-out in Game 4?

I seriously hate all of you.

BTW, people mentioning the Nugs "sweep" of the Mavs -- those four wins were by an average of 4.25 ppg. If you take out the "blowout" win (Nugs by 10), the wins were by just over 2 ppg. One unlucky bounce for the Nugs, and they lose any one of those games. The Mavs are a scary team.

But the Nuggets still have to beat the Hornets. THAT SERIES ISN'T OVER YET.

hornets aint comin back from that 58 point beat down at home. denver won't allow them to on their floor. hornets have too many soft players anyway (peja, chandler). they aren't as physical as they need to be to win.

as for the mavs vs nugs, i think nugs win it. dallas looked good against the spurs, but the spurs are hurting, and dallas has been a bad matchup for them the past few years anyway. the nugs have tough physical bigs who can take advantage of the mavs front court softness. also, the mav D isn't very good. denver should be able to score pretty easily on them.

Totally. I can't believe so many people are picking Dallas. They're playing good right now but they played a Manu-less, nearly Duncan-less Spurs. Does anyone really think that Dallas is better than a full-strength San Antonio team? Dirk can light you up some games, but it's still the same basic team that got bumped by Golden State and then New Orleans in the 1st round.

To me, if Denver takes any more than 5 games to win, it's because Karl did something stupid.

Once again, I think there are people here who are forgetting how awful the Hornets are. I would make the argument that the Hornets are a more terrible team than the Spurs. So, yes the Nuggets are much better than what they have been in recent years but let's don't get ahead of ourselves and proclaim them to be this great hope at knocking the Lakers off. They will probably win the series with Dallas but it is going to be close.

Mavs beat Nugs. Thus, when the Rockets finish the Lakers off, we'll have HCA in WCF. Look at the bigger picture, people, it's not about rooting for Dallas.

It's a very evenly matched series. The Nuggets' advantage is home court. 7 game series. I roll the dice and take the Mavs to win the series because of playoff experience and they had been there before.

The awfulness of the Hornets and Spurs is why it's tough to predict this series. It's hard to give the Nuggets or Female Ponies much credit for whipping up on undertalented/wimpy (Honey Bees) and undermanned (Spurs) teams.

The poll is 3 to 1 in favor of the Nuggets. That 58-point win has skewed the overall perspective. Now I want the Honey Bees to win game 5 just to prove the Nuggets aren't that good.

I wasn't overly impressed with the Nuggets in the first few games of the series, but games 4 and 5 finally convinced me that they are a solid team. They were flowing well, everyone seems in step. They've got a little swagger, too. I figure they are going to be feeling pretty damn confident going into this next round.

The Mavericks have a solid squad, but I don't know if I see them beating the Nuggets right now. I really believe that the Nuggets will have the best two players on the floor, though I guess that could be debated.

I think it will be a 6 or 7 game series with the Nuggets ultimately winning.

    And...go nugs.
