Bringing this discussion over here. Clutch posed an interesting scenario. Say in the extremely unfortunate scenario where we end up with the 3rd pick and Chet and Jabari are off the table. The Magic have the 5th pick. Do you do business?
Jaden Ivey and Purdue played already and lost. He was meh. Up and down. 16 points and 1 assist with 5 turnovers. He had a couple blocks and steals and 4 rebounds. Every time I watch him, I feel like he’s not a natural PG. Another combo guard.
Im into Holmgren or Smith for sure as optimal scenarios. Drafting Holmgren shores us up in almost all scenarios. I worry a bit about if a Smith/Segun front court is stout enough in regards to rebounding and interior D though. However, I guess we could address that with Smith playing more as a 3 than a 4. Griffin/Ivey/Banchero for me after those 2.
Steph Curry, James Harden, Russ Westbrook, Dame Lillard. All those guys left an impression on the younger generation. The Steve Nashs, the Jason Kidds, the Stocktons, Chris Pauls, they are getting fewer and fewer.
So what's the plan? Are we all taking the first few days of March Madness off work for scouting purposes?
Googled ... Measured 6’8.0” barefoot, 6’9.75” in shoes 8’11.5” standing reach, 238.0 lbs, and 7’3.0” wingspan at the 2021 NBA Draft Combine … He's wearing some thick socks and shoes
FYI, Banchero is going off! 5-5, 3-3 on threes, 15 points and 6 assists with almost 8 minutes to go in the first half. No rebounds, but let’s not talk about that. AJ Griffin is 4-5 from three for 12 points
I’ve been impressed with most of these guys but I’m not a huge fan of Banchero, I’m getting a bit of that Derrick Williams type tweener thing with him, though I could be wrong and he ends up being a multiple time MVP. I hope we get a high pick and a high upside player is all
College basketball can be so goofy sometimes... #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, and #9 lost. So, basically everybody in the top 10 that played except Duke and Baylor (who beat #5), lost. Nutty.
So has anyone’s opinion on Chet changed after tonight’s upset of Gonzaga losing to St.Mary’s? Granted St.Mary’s is the 23rd ranked team there no Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA, etc… and Chet was in foul trouble and only got 6 points and 6 rebounds. Kind of alarming, but I want to see if he can bounce back from this because this kind of game can hurt his draft stock
Like you said, what matters to me is not that he had a bad game, everybody has those, but how he bounces back from it.
May be a bit of an overreaction on my part, I had to go look at some of Smith Jr. and Banchero’s stats and they’ve had some games almost as bad, though their teams ended up winning.
its whatever... all the guys drafted are equally talented...yanis jokic booker middleton teen picks ,twenty something picks and second rounders...the gold is everywhere... this is not 70s where only american players can play in nba...the entire world is a talent pool nowadays... what maters is work and development....opportunity and playing time...and luck no one of these guys has better bb genes...people are utterly foolish and seduced by hype so easily... all we hear is jabroni banchero and chet and i bet you any money someone else gonna be the best player of this class so yeah tank likers...you are so so so naive...
