Mobley is definitely a Unicorn. And this was not a nickname he gave himself. NBA draft experts and NBA executives labeled him as such.
In his own way for sure. I always say let the kids fill out and put the weight room time in. Chet needs the kind of roids they give to horses just to break 200.
If he's at 6, and the Blazers have that pick. I throw everything at them, Wood, Tate and our late pick? For AJ Griffin. Walking away with Jabari/Chet and AJ is my dream. KPJ/Green/AJ/(Jabari or Chet)/Sengun Nix/Jaygup/Bird/KJ/Garuba Schroeder/Gordon/Nwaba/??/?? I'm ready to watch that, no matter the win/loss record, that gives me so much hope.
I'm personally not worried about Chets weight. He doesn't back down from physicality and I have never seen a player fail to gain weight once entering the NBA
Chet skinny frame makes him suspect for the opponent spin move.. lucky for him, in the Rockets he can learn to defend that move against Sengun (every practice) and Hakeem (occassionally)..
Players with Smith's talent don't come around often. He has it all: size, coordination, shooting eye, footwork, etc. He glides up and down the court. Love this kid, and he is a kid, very young. Smith is a can't miss pick.
Yeah I’d say he’s has more than enough speed and hops. He does this regularly too. He had a few spectacular plays in this game and finished with a stupid stat line of 21/15/6/3 Pts/Reb/Blocks/Steals
I'm an extremely casual college basketball fan, and Griffin doesn't look that special to me. For what it's worth, I checked with a friend who is a diehard Duke fan and he agrees. As for Ivey, I'm big on him for several reasons. 6'4" but has an NBA build and a 6'9" or 6'10" wingspan depending on the source Big hands make him a stronger, more effective finisher (67% at the rim) Unreal first step and north-south speed - like Westbrook fast Potential as a plus defender (for the reasons listed above) Improved his three point shot significantly year to year (26% --> 37%) I also like that his mother is a former player and current coach at Notre Dame. I would imagine she's instilled better than average habits and discipline in him, both on and off the court. I'd love to draft someone who's better at playing basketball than posting on TikTok. The only glaring negatives I see are that he has a tendency to play too fast at times and his mid-range game is non-existent. And I'm not even sure how big a negative the latter is given today's NBA.
The one thing I question is Smith's hands, he can get sloppy / careless at times. Still #2 on my board right now. Chet / Jabari .... then I don't know. I've soured on Paolo and the group of players 4-8 don't really shoot the 3 very well except Griffin. I'd really hate to be picking 3 or worse. I really don't know what I'd do. Wouldn't mind Mark Williams out of Duke with the Brooklyn pick. He's going to be a defensive anchor for someone. And find me an early 2nd rounder to take Gabriele Procida for some length at the 3 spot. The Rockets always starting 6'4" & 6'5" dudes at the 3 and 4 spots annoys the hell outa me. Find me some 6'7"-6"9" dudes that can shoot lights out from 3.
I've been on the either/or camp between chet and Jabari if we had #1, couldn't really decide. But after reading this, plus all the other similar reports I read/hear, and im on team Chet. Think both are great, Jabari the "safer" option but chet has a high floor also and an immense ceiling. I really hope Houston wins the lottery.
you mean KPJ, Eric Gordon PLUS DJ Augustin, Armani Brooks, and John Wall (At the time we didn't know he would sit out entire season) Need have priority as well, we obviously needed a big way more than a guard as we only have Wood/Theis not even a single backup big..
So you wanted to pass on a potential superstar guard because we had DJ Augustin and Armoni Brooks on the roster? We literally cut them two weeks ago.
Peeps should not throw the term superstar around like they are falling from skies. The top 5 of this league are superstars. Everyone else is a perennial All-Star, a star, excellent player.......
