I see more Mobley guys praising Chet. And if you think that’s all it takes to outperform international 7 footers I don’t know what to say.
Right. Banchero can be an offensive superstar. But if he doesn’t get his 3 pt shooting better he doesn’t offer much else outside of offense. Chet is literally the best shooting big in college with guard handles and elite defense. Jabari is elite shooter and had a more traditional body for an NBA superstar. If his handles were like Chet’s, he would be number 1 overall easily.
A quick look at the FIBA site reveals that Chet, Wembanyama and Ibou Badji were the only 7 footers at the under 19 tournament last summer where Cht won MVP. All I was saying was that Chet is a good basketball player that, up until he hits the NBA, has always had a considerable height advantage over his opponent so I would expect him to do well. End of the day I just have doubts about the dude being this revolutionary player that changes game. I think he is just as, if not more, likely to be mix of Marcus Camby on D with some Channing Frye offense. Thats a good player just not one Id take at 1 or 2.
That’s diminishing what he’s done. He’s played against quality big men. Also, there are maybe 3 people in the league that can match his overall length. And none of those can match his athleticism, handles, shooting and inside outside game. He can play/guard any position from 3-5 and shoot at elite levels. High floor and even higher ceiling. There isn’t a prospect in this draft that can compare to him, and the only one that can in the previous draft is Mobley.
I think given the way guys like Gianis and Jokic have developed and literally become game changing players, it’s worth taking a risk on players with measurements and talents that you can’t teach. So for example, taking a risk on a Chet at #2 is probably better than a Jalen Green at #2. I think Jabari and Chet are the top two players in the draft.
There is a difference, with foreign late picks, if they fail, nobody would give 2 cents. It is different with local high lottery picks.
I voted for Banchero and Rafael pick is also Banchero https://www.nbabigboard.com/p/the-case-for-paolo-banchero-as-the? I would be happy with any of the 3 top picks, but I think Banchero is just a mens man..just needs to improve his shooting
Banchero will likely be a double/double machine in the league, and can also create for teammates. There’s no way he falls out of the top 5 imo.
They do not have to be. Major part of the journey is to develop in the first 4 years within the NBA. Nobody really remembers if Chet or Jabari was better in College once they turn pro.
Yeah it was a bad game for him. Foul trouble and they were clearly trying to take him and Timme out of the game. No reason for him to only take one 3
Timme looked horrible, but Chet had an off game too. Saint Mary’s is legit. They are ranked 19th in the nation.
I want the guy who plays D and has enough mass not to be pushed around in the paint. Needs to be able to shoot 35% or so on 3's. Who would this be?
I'm hoping for Chet ... People talk about he's skinny but ain't too many "gearthy" guys to fear underneath... Our problem is guys just outrebound us because of length .. Wood doesn't want to battle for positioning .. Imo, emphasize to Chet the old school way of boxing out and he should be a walking double double guy instantly..
