terrible is a little strong of a word. He was definitely not good but he wasn't terrible either...just kind of blah. That game was ugly in general too

Am I forgetting something, Savage only had one start and 2 halves last year before getting hurt. He looked great in his second half comeback, looked bad in his first start, and then was pretty meh in his second start before getting hurt. people are acting as if we have some long track record of his poor play.

Watson is BOB's guy, he became his guy the second that huge pick was made. He wants him to succeed more than any of us. If he starts Savage, he is doing so because he believes it is in the teams and Watson's best interest long term. If the 2 were on equal footing I would still want Savage staring at least the first few games. The only time I would ever want a rookie starting week 1 is if he is clearly the teams best option, which Watson doesn't seem to be at this moment. Him holding a clipboard for a few weeks isn't gonna set the franchise back, and if the more experienced Savage actually looks good it's all the better.

If Savage sucks, then Watson has had some time to catch his breath, and he can come in riding a wave of support.

Obrien is the qb whisperer, maybe he should start yelling.

Maybe he is whispering "I have no idea what I am doing!"

Baffles me why Weedon is getting any more than 1 possession per game. Watson needs as much time as possible.

Can't risk Watson getting injured in a meaningless preseason game.

Who cares who is going to be a starter? Neither is great. I am more caring who can donate more money to those people who do not have homes due to the flooding.

Why are you in the Texans section talking about the flood? There's a thread in hangout about the flood where everyone is talking about that.

I'm down. He looks good every game as a Texan

Actually I'm very down with Savage. Watson has a long way to go as a passer. I'm confident but in that thread comparing him to other rookies he is nowhere near Mahomes in particular

I thought Watson would win the job during the preseason games; he didn't. Savage it is. Not sure that is going to be good enough, but Watson is clearly not ready. Watson doesn't have velocity problems, he has accuracy problems. I think he reads the field pretty well, and he is a great athlete. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the red zone.

Sort of the way Andy Reid used Vick his first year in Philly. Red Zone package

Thanks for bringing that up. I had forgotten about that. If BOB goes that route, I would fake the run and let Watson pass into the end zone. BOB's stuff is so bland,

I wish the best for Savage but it won't matter. This offensive line is a nightmare and will be exposed early on. Not to mention we have a coach calling plays that has zero track record of being a compentent OC.

Everyone thinks we are just going to roll Jacksonville. I'm not so confident. This offense has the "potential" to be even worse than last year given the circumstances. Hopefully the O line outperforms expectations and proves me wrong.

Savage all summer knew this was his moment, a chance to be the man and take the next step in his career. Not only that, a chance to heal and lift the city and be a hero the city needs. And you come out with a limp dick... Career backup cemented, time for everyone to accept it.

I didn't want, and still don't want Watson starting.

He's gonna develop some very bad habits playing behind this line right now.
