A cool video from Lockheed-Martin with their concept of how to go to Mars and explore the planet, as well as the two moons, using the Orion spacecraft (which they are involved in constructing) and a whole bunch of other stuff. Check it out. I'll add that I'm very glad that I don't own the clothes this cat is wearing!

I'll add that there is a great website about Mars and Mars exploration plans from several different entities, brought together at humanmars.net. Fascinating!

Idunno....high IQ just tends to skew to the higher crazy on the crazy/hot scale. They're not dumb enough to take the unmitigated pandering in stride. They end up going off the deep end. In SS's case, she butched it up to get away from the attention.

Sharon's been married twice, to guys, and is likely bisexual, leaning towards straight. She also has 3 adopted kids. It's remarkable that she's alive at all, much less doing as well as she is. She had a brain aneurysm in 2001, bleeding inside her brain for 9 days. She nearly died and it took 2 years for her to relearn how to "walk, talk, and read again," as she put it. It derailed her career, but she's doing fine now. She's only 60. ;)

My post was made with all the goodwill in the world. I just did a bit of digging, that's all. I was curious myself. :)

Reconfirmed by years of seismic data taken from NASA’s Mars Insight Lander. This study suggests a subterranean ocean of water

Doesnt this further the theory/belief that Mars was once just like Earth, teeming with life... then something happened.

The concern, of course, is what happened exactly... and why woulnd't/couldn't that possibly happen here?

High time to rewatch the old martian chronicles TV miniseries. So, so good. Long live Ray Bradbury's dreams.

The theory used to be (don't know if it's a belief that's still held) that Mars lost its magnetic field and lost its atmosphere thanks to a battering by the solar winds over the next millions/billions of years. I don't know about "teeming with life" considering that all happened probably billions of years ago.

Interesting this thread came back. I had a weird thought today while looking at the Ring of Kerry in Ireland. The coastal mountains appear to be made up of sedimentary rock like shales and limestone that had been laid down on ocean bottoms for millions of years and then dislocated and flipped up on their side.

I was thinking that if Mars had water there is probably a lot of sedimentary rock but there wouldn’t be rock like limestone or coal that is formed by biological action. So if limestone and coal were found on Mars that would
Be a strong indicator there was life on mars.

Even on Mars, it all comes back to Ireland, friend.
