They have great depth and a more balanced coach. I think they will have homecourt and have a chance at making the Finals. Arenas and Butler are excellent playoff performers. Haywood/McGee Jamison/Blatche Butler Miller/Young Arenas/Foye That is an EXTREMELY solid team. Outside shooting, penetration, mid range, everything. I think they will do great and Flip will make their defense respectable. The real question is (and I'm serious) can anyone stop Arenas if he gets back to his old form? With Miller's passing and long-range shooting, the floor will be wide open for all. The only change I'd make is perhaps bring in a veteran traditional PG (3rd PG).
We need Antwan Jamison, he's old; but, he's healthy, consistent, and efficient. Trade Battier ( I'd hate to see him go) or some combo, either way it's possible and then the rockets will actually be pretty good Brooks/ Lowry McGrady/Taylor Ariza/Buldinger ( if we did trade battier) Jamison/Scola Andersen/ (Landry) or (Pops) o and as for the original point of this thread I'm not gonna shoot down any teams hopes but the wizards aren't likely. I wouldn't mind they beat Cleveland though and Humanize the Divine Lenron James plus we get to see a LA Biston rematch
I think they'll do well, but firing Eddie Jordan was a huge mistake. Especially now that they added Randy and Mike.
If Gilbert Arenas has a DWade type of year With a better supporting cast and more experience defensive coach they will have a 50win year I think they have the potential to be one of the best 4 teams in the east they have the potential to be conteders ..
*contenders* (i.e. not locks) for the eastern conf finals IF everything goes perfectly. For the finals? No. For WINNING the finals? I say no chance.. not with that roster
Any team with a decent low post option will just run over them. Not to mention, Howard, Shaq and KG. Can you see Jamison or Mcgee cover any of them? Sure when they are shooting well, they can beat any team, but over the course of the season, bah.
Definitely contenders for the "knocked out in the first by either Celtics, Cavs or Magic" team. Come on you for real Agent Zero Free Throws? You are mentally weaker then Mr. "They iso'ed me". How can you let the Penny puppet replacement talk trash into your head?
You wouldnt even think the BULLETS ever won a title in their franchise history. Maybe the least mentioned 70's winner, and being called the Wizards makes Bullets history even more vague. Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld on the same team was a formidable frontcourt.
Contenders to make the playoffs? Seriously? IF HEALTHY, they are easily the 4th best team in the Eastern Conference. With Flip Saunders and a much better lineup this year, they will be a big annoyance to whoever finishes first. They are the 4th best team and they aren't quite in the top 3 in the East but they are much better than the rest of the East. They're like the Portland of the East
