Remember, we are longer ladies or gentlemen. We are all gentlefolk.

...so mankind can mean "man and woman" but anything else with "-man" or "man-" in it automatically mean man?

Everyday the sack gets smaller gentlemen. Everyday. Our forefathers (forepeople?) would be disgusted. I'm all for equality but there's a difference between equality where it matters and equality just for the sake of saying LOOK we did something!

I wish we could focus on bigger issues like, I don't know, economic dominance, well balanced family life, better routes toward better living for our impoverished, our veterans, our orphans, etc etc. Disappointing that we have the greatest democracy in the world yet we focus on **** like this. Really Jeanne Kohl-Welles, of all the things your constituents in Seattle could complain about, this made the priority list? Or are you just trying to win small battles that are easier won so you can show something in your re-election campaigns? What happened to representatives that weren't afraid to fight bigger war for a greater purpose? I wouldn't be surprised if Kohl was her maiden name, Welles was her husband's name, and she kept both because, hey, why not, EQUALITY. I wish there was an emoticon to show my disgust.

A quick google shows that her bills have been predicted to bring total of $214,327,749,698 of increases in taxes and fees to Washington taxpayers, pulling her into the #1 position in Washington state reps/senators in increasing taxes for their constituents. Thanks Jeanne!

This sounds like a lot of work. Can't we just keep b****ing in the manner my parents were responsive to? The results are more amazingly tangible, and it works wonders for my ego.

Sticks & stones may break my bones, but words shatter my poor psyche like glass. Id' rather people work around my preferences at their own expense, as opposed to developing the tools necessary to properly cope with name calling.

There are more important things to worry about in society. It comes down to what I learned in school when I was like 5...mailman, policeman, fireman. When I say it, it's just natural and not sexist in any way. If you want to fix the problem, fix the textbooks and what teachers say today and let it naturally fix the "issue" for the next generation. Ridiculous for this to be a political issue.

No, it will be changed to "womyn." This is seriously the most ludicrous, crackbrained law I have ever seen. During the short life of this country, we have gone from extreme chauvinism all the way to extreme feminism. Our society is making a tragic overcorrection regarding "women's rights." Is there no middle ground?

Agreed. Quite the waste. So is attempting to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act... what, 37 times now? The current Congress is incapable of doing anything meaningful whatsoever. It's sad when meaningful, good bills that should spur discussion won't even come up to vote.

    1. Yes, this is completely idiotic. A real waste of time.
    2. Thread title is incorrect, as I read the article. Nothing is "banned." You can still say "freshman" until the cows come home in Washington state. But they are rewriting such words in official state documents. That's it.
Bureaucratic BS documents just got even more simultaneously stilted and boring.

So really, there's nothing to see here.
