As long as he doesn't teach Yao his limp jump shot I'm fine with it.

These winds of change are starting to smell a little 'funky'.

This sounds horrible, but you have to remember that both Dream and Moses have trouble with the English language.

Ewing should be good for Yao. Ewing, as much as I hate him, has had some success versus Dream. Ewing has also averaged 28 ppg in a season, so the guy isn't a slouch.

    This is true.

The best way for Yao to learn from them is probably to watch tape of them and then let Patrick show him on the floor "Ok, now this is how Hakeem kicked my ass.."

hahahahah! man. well, olajuwon and moses does have some english problems and if ever they would teach yao, it'll be so hard for them to understand each other. ewing can really help yao though.. he can also show tapes of the 95 west finals and say, "this is how dream kicked the 95 "MVP"'s sorry ass.."

Looking for validation of Patrick Ewing's prodigious coaching prowess? *Emmanuel Lewis*. 'Nuff said.

Olajuwan will never, ever become a coach. He's already stated that he has no desire to do so. He enjoys his quiet life away from basketball.

Re: Van Gundy signing...Good move by the Rockets. A step in the right direction.

Re: P-Ew coming in as an assistant....could be worse. I really don't have a problem with one of the top 50 players of all time coaching Yao or Cato.

Re: Kenny/Mario coming in as an assistant....it will be good to have someone on court (or at least on the bench) who was there during the Rockets glory days. Very good for karma/inspiration.

Re: Whatever happens next....who knows? Trades? Possible and probable. FA signings (major) doubtful, besides Posey. Draft? Moving up with a trade? Could happen. Let's see how much 'power' Van Gundy is given first.

    Ewing- NO WAY

I already like Yao's moves in the post, they are Dream-like.

He needs to learn how to get and hold his spot in the paint and how to get better rebounding position, basic box out.

And he needs to develop NBA shot blocking technique.

I don't think we want him imitating Ewing in any of these areas or getting advice from Ewing in any of these areas. Yao needs to keep developing into "his" style of offense. Remember the dream moves he put on Robinson and Duncan. Yao needs to keep working that.

Get him Moses to learn rebounding positioning.
Get him tapes of Dream to help him develop his offense.
Get him tapes of Shaq to help him get better position in the low block

I fear Ewing will try to teach him that 15 ft. turn around that he had to resort to when Hakeem was thrashing him.

I don't think the whole point of bringing Ewing in is to make a clone of Ewing. Ewing will be brought in to teach Yao about playing in the NBA as a big man- something Ewing did quite effectively.

Wow! Four times I wrote 'Ewing' in two sentences! Just amazing. :D
