Was this season Third Best in franchise history ?

    i know hakeem lost 2, although they were about as forgivable as you can be.

    he lost as 3 seed to a 6 seed (friggin' utah), which was 48 to 41, but it was his rookie year so not too bad.

    and then the other was actually as a 6 seed to a 7 seed (i want to say 43 to 39) because we had already upset the 3 seed, so again not much to complain about. it was a late 80's year but i can't remember specifically which one. i think that was the magical year the lakers got to the finals playing 3 teams with a combined record that was just barely above .500.

    Tmac put himself out and was a major distraction for the team
    The team gelled without him and Yao reinjured his foot.
    Ron Artest made the team better
