The modern game needs more intensity like this - ever since the Artest brawl, the league has grown progressively wimpier.
Well, I picked the "swagger" option. The thing is, I don't know about the score or anything at that point in the game, but if we were up by an amount that guaranteed victory, then it was unnecessary. There's just no need for that, we wouldn't like it if we were on the losing end, so why do it to an opponent? I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy being a professional and setting an example for others, and I definitely wouldn't want a kid watching to think that it's okay to kick an opponent while he is down. After all, this is just a game. I can see why many of you picked the swagger option (and I agree with you to some extent), but let's examine this in an objective manner. I gave Dream the benefit of the doubt and picked swagger in the chance that the dunk was sort of needed to seal a victory.
Wasn't really comparing Hakeem to LeBron I just said if Bron did it people would make a big deal about it. Maybe I should just say if this was anyone that was not a Rocket people would say it was classless.
Like I said, Dream never did some CRAPPY baseball antics or mimic photographing anyone on court. He just played basketball... unlike LeBron... Dream would stay on the court and say "Good game" to anyone who just beat his team. That's better. Point well taken, sir. But I am with anyone saying "If you don't want them to score, stop them" and certainly AINGE and COMPANY didn't do that.
Well personally I always say it's the other teams job to stop their opponent from scoring and that the team that is winning should still try and score. I'm just saying looking back on past issues it seems like most people would put this under the classless category.
I wouldn't call that a brawl. It was basically JR Smith and Nate Robinson getting into a cat fight while Carmelo suckerpunched dude and ran away like a p***y.
Great reply. This was during the playoffs and Clutch City days. This wasn't some regular season game on TNT. Clutch City was about toughness and heart. Anyone who thinks Dream's dunk was classless needs to get some 5 ward b's on em.
thanks Durvasa, I bet the pansy new 'Rockette' fans think the Kiss of Death was classless. It's the freaking playoffs and Clutch City is there to take care of business, they aren't afraid of anybody, nobody is crying on the podium except for the other team. Teach em what ROCKET fans really are!
Perhaps the dunk was classless, but in doesn't pale in comparison to the classlessness of throwing a ball baseball style at the back of the man's face, I assumed he was aiming for Hakeem?
ainge was probably trying to hit hakeem but elie was the bystander. Wrong person to hit IMO. The junkyard dawg just sounds like balls would be ripped in a fight.
the people who should answer this poll should be the people who witnesses this series and not just this incident. They would understand the **** the Rockets have been going through, being deemed Choke City and the bull**** the Suns were doing most of the games. Dream got hacked a billion times and he's just letting his frustrations on the rim. If you don't like Dream throwing it down against Phoenix in the Clutch City series, then you don't like the air you breathe.
none of you suckers who called it classless were even alive or walking or potty trained yet when this series was on. Dream is a badass, you wished you had witnessed Clutch City, so stop hating on people who did.
Dream got it thrown right back in his face by KJ the very next game... with one of the all-time greatest dunks and posterizing sessions of all time. So, I think he got what was coming to him, karma-wise, by doing that dunk. That being said, that game 3 was a make or break game... after blowing a 20 point lead the last game, and being down by double-digits this game, some could say that this win is basically what led to the back-to-back championships (as they likely get swept if they lose this game). Maxwell actually deserved to do something more razzle-dazzle. 31 points in one half? Are you kidding me?
