Was there ever an offseason with so little controversy here?

I think reality happened and they went back down their holes.

This was about a year before my time lurking on Clutchfans. Did Clutchfans' majority think Francis & Mobley could be the foundation of a championship team?

Not sure if we thought that we could get to championship level, but we definitely grew an attachment to the guys and could not deny the heart the both of them had. That said, I was still very excited about landing tmac. You do that trade every time.

i LOVED francis/mobley....but when we got tmac i was ecstatic.

tmac was special, he was a superstar..and he raised his game to that level in the playoffs.

the things he could do on the court were just amazing.

as much as i loved francis..i'd do that trade 100 times over.

A player "stomping" on a defenseless homeless man isnt controversy?

I dont notice much difference really. Offseason talk is usually is things dragging on too much having nothing else better to do, and lots of junk threads.

But yeah Rockets are clearing out the Royce White type controversial elements. And have pieces that are proven and established with most still having upside in front of them.

And no need to talk about "tank or no tank?" cuz having a Dwight Howard essentially "kills the noise"

But sports is made on competition and duels and passion. Without the excess subjects this site would only have 20% its current load

Back in 04 T-mac hadn't established himself as a winner and Yao was more hype than performance. I was excited, but I was hoping they would develop into a title contender instead of expecting it. Felt the same way in 08.

This team as a title threat is very real. I haven't felt that way since 97, and I think a lot of rockets fans feel similarly so it's hard to really complain about anything.

    Yao, Brooks/Lowry, T-Mac, now it's Lin.

Soon people will start hating on d12's chill work habit, and start distinguishing him from olajuwon.

    Yes, I went there.

    But he's still a beast.

Let's bring out the yearbook from the attic:

We can talk about how Houston would have done had we had drafted Jordan instead of Hakeem. We can talk about any late potential off-season addition to fill out our bench.
Or we can talk about how you would or wouldn't be a fan if "x player" was traded.

    Offseason? yes. It's pretty uncontroversial.

Team? no. There is always a polarizing player: Barkley, Francis, Yao, McGrady, and now Lin. I am pretty sure Howard will create some controversies on CF.

Yes, this has been the most feel-good offseason since that Adelman second year, re-signing of Steve Frances, signing of Trevor Ariza, Yao is back, TMac eventually'll be back, Brooks coming off MIP season, had just made it into the second round of playoff--offseason of I believe '09. Yet, we didn't even make it into the playoffs that year!

I guess that qualifies. But it's not really causing heated divisions among Clutchfans. Or maybe I haven't been paying attention.

Considering the Rockets are a young team who made the playoffs last season and added the best center in the league to the roster, what do you expect? The Rockets not only have two all-stars, but a solid roster and depth all around. We know Greg Smith is the worst possible solution to the PF issue if the rookies and Asik/Howard don't pan out. The Rockets can always go small. Add in the nice bench and there isn't much left to discuss.

In prior seasons we've either barely missed the playoffs, or were bounced out of the first round with 2 all-stars who were injured frequently. This left us with a lot of questions (how good are we if, what could have been, etc.) The only things left to discuss are how good will player x be? How good will the team be? And the reason those threads don't do well is because this is a Rockets forum where objectivity can be lacking.
