Without the TC, there would be no Rockets...so in that case, it's not a mistake... however, I do like it because, for being so huge, it's relatively cozy but the atmosphere is horrendous...between the horrific PA guy and the quietness of the "fans", all I hear is a bunch of loud noise and the occassional 2-3 claps per game for when McGrady does somethin special...
the fans only yell for winners..... you really think minute maid park having to open its roof would have been that big of a deal if it was the 20 game in the season...i think not playoff atmosphere is pretty good at the TC but regular season sucks....i would love to for more fans to actualy be fans and cheer on the team im not the biggest fan of hockey but i would love to go to games just to be in that type of atmosphere TC is nice and can become loud...no cuch thing as too nice a stadium...it is actualy a selling point for players to come play here
There comes a time in every design cycle that trying to put in everything becomes too much. They kept puffing it up to be a pleasure palace and forgot it was supposed to be a gym. But if you want to know if it works or not you'd have to ask the season ticket sales department, it may just be exactly what the brokerage and law firms want. They are the ones paying the note so if they are happy, we riff-raff will just have to be happy yelling at our TV's.
i love the place. I admit, the upper concourse is NO WHERE close to the court as it was at the Summit/CC and just noticed that a few months back when I went to Lakewood, but its still a nice/accomodated arena. JB along with John/Lance on SR610 were talking about it this morning. They think the place is just TOO NICE. Perhaps the players are spoiled with what we have in there, but in 2003-2004 season, we were a respectable 27-14, better than last year's 26-15 (barley) and who knows what this year's will be.
I liked the Summit better. Even with free floor seats. They screwed it up. Not to late to fix. If they give a crap.
Whoa. Can they have Chuck Hayes playing for $0 under the CBA? Cheap-ass Rockets. But you have to love that guy's attitude!
Like I have said for years....the atmosphere at any Houston Rockets arena sucks burro bolas. The entertainment choreography has been terrible for a number of years and it hasn't improved at all. They should of been fired years ago and a professional crew who can bring people to the arena should of been hired to fix all this crap. Why don't they take a lesson from Dallas, Detroit, Golden State, Sacramento, etc. who keep the crowds coming? Even if we were winning, it seems like whoever shows up or doesn't show up gives a crap. I don't care if the corporate people pay to sell out the lower bowls. They don't show up because they seem to have better things to do. Or even if they do show up, they're more busy with their Blackberrys and laptops, they really don't care what's going on. They're just glad the office gave them tickets so they can do their work at a more entertaining experience... Why don't the corporate just go to Stubhub.com, sell their tickets to them and so it can go to someone who will actually cheer at these games from the lower bowl? Or give them away/sell them to the upper level people at a decent price so they can cheer on the team? This argument with the arena, the crowd, the entertainment....it's been an ongoing argument for years that will never get solved until we win another 3 championships. Then maybe, just maybe someone will recognize the Houston Rockets.
I have had season tix at TC since it opened and I think it is horrible. Like a poster above me said, TC does have a warehouse feel. I guess the food is decent and the bars are a plus, but I just dont like the feeling inside TC..
I didn't vote for the stadium, and all the stuff he mentions is an ongoing "tradition" for years. Man, even Joel Osteen can pack a crowd and they can praise and worship. Maybe God needs to be on the Rockets side for some excitement.
Toyota Center is awesome. It's a great place to watch a game. With the exception of the Chinese stir fry, the rest of the food sucks however.
And we advertise it how, with Yao and Tmac in leather domination outfits with riding crops in hand? Now that would scare the opposition!
How much better would TC be if they had all the different restaurants etc in it like the old CC? MUCH.
there is nothing wrong with the Toyota Center...the problem is the suits who come to watch instead of cheer in the lower bowl. Second, the product they are watching is not much to cheer about.
I diagree bout the fans. To me the TC fans seem a lot different from last yr. Its like they want to find something to cheer about and now every one gets up cheering when someone hits a 3 (atleast at the few games i've attended). I really feel like Tmac is not comfortable there and then the whole team falls apart. On friday the whole place got up on their feet for Mac twice and both times he shot it and missed. Really, I think the TC fans are as good as any (except those OK city ones). On Friday they were only quiet when there really was nothing to cheer about.
