I really don't get this whole thing that you have over there about not running up the score. Its sport, you play to the best of your ability, and if one team sucks balls, that is their problem! If they want to get upset because they can't stop you scoring, tough!
No it was not. If they didn't like it, they should have done something about it. And I'm a Cowboys fan.
What's would have been more huimiliating for the Cowboys in that situation: - The Vikings running their offense? - The Vikings taking a knee on 4th and 3?
If their objective was to get a first down or better, that was their best play considering their running game wasn't very good yesterday. If their objective was to give the ball back to the Cowboys, then their best bet was a running play. If their objective was to run up the score, they should have kicked a field goal.
Thank you. That is the point I've been making. The Vikes are hoping to play two more games with a 40 year old QB. With the game out of reach for the Cowboys I don't think it makes much sense to have Favre out there passing.
The Vikings haven't been able to run the ball for the last 8 games. No 100 yards games for AP, and he's under 4 yards per carry. I think its more telling that they didn't trust the run game to get 3 yards on 4th down.
There was no reason to try and score again. It was stat-padding, and I didn't like it. The Vikings were just risking injury to their starters. The Cowboys shouldn't whine about it though.
What's the % of run vs pass on 4th and 3? If I were to guess, I'd say pass over half the time. It's actually kind of rare to see run plays beyond 4th and 2. Regardless, the Vikings can do whatever the hell they want. We're talking about grown man getting paid 6-8 figures for their job. If that entails getting humiliated because they performed badly, what's there to complain? At the pro level, I really could care less about ANY type of running up the score.
if you had played for the other 58 min that might not have happened Quit crying....no one care about millionaires feeling. THIS IS PRO FOOTBALL
whats the % of pass plays on 4th and 3, up by 24, with 2 minutes left? You have to admit few teams throw the ball in this situation. I could care less too. I don't think most teams would throw for the endzone there, but the Cowboys could stop the play. If Keith Brooking was so upset, he could have made a play to stop it. Nothing worse than getting mad at the other team for being better than you.
As a Cowboys fan I didn't like it... but if the players didn't like it then they should have done more to stop it. A team should keep playing until the game is over and the Vikings did, and scored. So Brookings should just shut the hell up and concentrate on stopping people next time.
If Dallas was pissed about this, then they obviously would have preferred that Minnesota "quit trying" at the end of the game rather than do what they did. They obviously wouldn't have felt humiliated by that happening. I'm sure most other teams are the same.
Yeah and that does not put my theory to rest, because I said I would be embarrassed if a team stopped playing hard against me. I did not say anything about The Dallas Cowboys so they didn't put any theory to rest. Also last time I checked Keith Brooking doesn't represent every single player for the Dallas Cowboys.
I guess my point is that there is still time left. And there's no point in making the game longer by giving the opponent some more snaps. But then, I realized how that doesn't really apply to this situation, since the Vikings went for the the TD rather just a dump pass for 1st down to end the game. So in the end, what I posted didn't really matter.
I'm sure if the tables were turned, Cowboys fan would have no problem with it. Stop whining and actually get a real coach who can lead this team. Cowboys are overated every single year. They finally won a playoff game and BAM shot back down to earth. Im so glad
I dont see anything wrong with it the vikings are playing the saints now who will put up a lot of points they may be faced with a situation next week where they have to go for the TD on 4th down instead of the FG. Practicing an in-game situation cannot be simulated in practice so if anything I take it as preparation for the NFC championship game.
