He didn't have to play at Depth Perception Arena back then.

What did they yell when he lost?

When we yelled MVP for Hakeem, he was the MVP and we won a championship

player is not always measured in stats.

    maturity
    leadership
    intelligence

that's also part of playing basketball

Tracy never led us to the worst record in the NBA.
Thank god he did that for Orlando and not the Rockets.

if you give him the glory, then you should equally give him the blame.
that "I almost got out of the 1st round" series, give him credit for playing well.
the next season that the sucked, that's on him too.

Oh Hakeem took the Rockets to NBA Finals in his second year. good nba lesson to know when other fans of other teams try to bust you on your fandom.

I'm a Rockets fan only. sorry guys. I could careless about the Shanghai Sharks or the Orlando Magic.

I'm arguing that T-Mac in Orlando was better than T-Mac in Houston. Some people don't believe that. I NEVER said he was the best player in the league...

u gotta understand tracy is not healthy right now. he's playing at 70-75%. give the guy time to be back fully healthy like he was when he started the season. the way he played earlier in the season was top 3-4 player in the ENTIRE league.

injuries really mess with tracy's mind. this was the same case last yr. he was garbage basically to start the year, but then as he got more comfortable as he played more, he kinda got back to himself and became an MVP candidate.

i think this rest during the break will be huge for tmac. look for an explosive 2nd half.

GJ w/ the history lesson. So you think Jordan would of turned into God and advanced with that team?

Every single star's team you just posted was better than that Orlando team. You don't think McGrady has put up historic performances in the playoffs? Look at his stats (every single series he lost in the final game):
    2000-01: 34 ppg, 7 rpg, 8 apg, 1 spg, 1bpg
    2001-02:31 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg, 2bpg, 1 spg
    2002-03: 32 ppg, 7 rpg, 5 apg, 1 bpg, 3 spg

The rest of his team's stats were completely crap, no one outside of him could accomplish anything. They're listed here - http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/ORL/

Looking at 2000-01 for example, what exactly could he have done better? Nothing.

Have you seen him come close to a performance like that since he came to Houston? Why do you think that is? He isn't the same player he used to be.

nah man. pierce is not as good as tmac, period. hopefully u have pierce BELOW tmac if that's where u rank tmac.

carmelo is purely a scorer and that's it. he's a better scorer than tmac right now (partly b/c tracy doesn't have confidence to absorb the contact when he drives right now). but he doesn't do anything else remotely as good as tmac.

only kobe and lebron are having arguably as good/better seasons as tracy when he was in orlando or when tracy is healthy.

really, nobody moved up. tracy's health really pulled him down.

I had Tmac on my fantasy team. I know he played well that season.

However, any of these individual players.. i mean legends would have taken that team much further.

MJ, Bird, Dream, Magic, Kareem, Wilt .. there's a reason why they are LEGENDS.

we're talking about individual seasons here, not team achivements. the consensus around the L in 02-03 was he was a top 3 player, and arguably the best player.

whenever orlando was on national TV, tmac was always mentioned as arguably the "best player." u can pull up some games on youtube where nets/nuggets commentators said the same thing.

like i said, his PER in 02-03 speaks for itself. he was the ONLY player since MJ (lebron might join this club this year) to have a 30+ PER for an entire reg. season. that was one of the top 10 individual reg. season performances in the history of the L.

but again, when you play in a team sport, nobody cares about your stats. they only check for Ws and rings.

so let's stop this discussion and hope that the team can go deep in the playoffs then tmac and yao can get their true props.

Team achievements determine the greatness of individual seasons......

I have never seen a player that was ranked #1 and had yet to get out of the first round........
