We don't know what happened during each timeout so this is sort of an empty stat. Most of the time the guys barely paid attention to Mchale, lol.
He had his good moments and he did alright with what we had, but overall, not really. I prefer J.B. over him any time, because he's willing to switch things up and at least provides insight and knows how to talk about basketball. I got so tired of his retoric pre and post game.
He's not a coach. He's just a guy that tells the players to play harder, play better, guard your guy, etc.
A good guy? Definitely. A good coach? Far from it. His firing was a year and a half overdue, he should've been gone after the Portland series.
What is the purpose of this? If he were to come back tonight, we would want him fired tmrw again.... Adelman Adelman Adelman
Is this stat available for previous years? I thought I heard McHale did quite well in previous seasons. Not sure exactly what we want to read into it?
Was McHale a good coach? Yes - he was someone with experience, can relate to the players on the personal level, players loved having him as the leader, he kept it real and kept the players grounded. Was he a good strategist? Nope. Too often he would trust his players to just go on the court and figure it out. Just like how HE would figure it out when he was playing. That is a common fall for talented people - they assume everyone's skill/talent/knowledge is on their level.
He was a garbage coach, one of the worst in the history of the NBA and probably the worst Rockets coach ever. All he had was "clap clap" "play harder" "juice" "sticky" "throwing darts"
Depends on your definition of good. Is McDonald's good? It can be when you're starving and you're high AF.
