Well, historically speaking, the Santa Claus character as we know him today is based on Saint Nicholas who was born in.... ... ehh... never mind.
That's my point, isn't his message suppose to be important, not his color? It's sad that the message would mean less b/c he isn't the skin color people thought he was. Unfortunately that's reality.
There are plenty of middle-eastern people that look white, especially Israelis... not that I really care what color my savior was to begin with, the dude still died for me.
Speculation is that the early pictures of Jesus were based on the huge statue of Zeus in the temple of Zeus.
Jesus would look Arab due to his sematic genes. He would be dark because in those days everyone had sun exposure
That's odd. He was born to a Jewish mother, was he not? With these 'semitic' genes, he would have likely resembled today's Jews or Arabs or possibly even Blacks. Why do you think he would have to resemble today's Arabs?
There is minimal difference genetic difference between Jews and Arabs. If deprived of non-genetic visual clues you would have a hard time telling the difference. Turks, Kurds, and Armenians also fit in the mix. Therefore, looking like an Arab doesn't conflict with looking Jewish in genetic terms.
If Baby Jesus figures at my mall's nativity scene is any guide, Jesus is a blond-hair, blue-eye Aryan superbaby.
Well mankind started in Africa. The strange thing is that we are all related. Every single person alive today's DNA can be traced back to one person's remains. They thought they also had a female who everyone matched as well, but it turns out that there was some trible in eastern Africa that didn't match. There may have been other people that can't be traced back, but those lines died off, and everyone alive today can all be genetically traced back to that one person. There was a show about it on National Geographic or Discovery Channel about a month ago talking about it. Anyway that person's remains were from Ethopia.
