When people don't agree with your point, it is easier to toss out personal insults, I guess. Kind of where I fall.... DD
You also said that of the final 8 teams in the playoffs, the Rockets and Lakers were the two best, yet now you are saying that they Rockets were NOT contenders.
No it's not easier, but it's easier with you because 1) refuting the substance of your post makes no difference (even though we already did it here) becuase you just retreat back to the "opinion" rhetorical device when things don't go your way (as they frequently don't), and 2) it shuts you up and temporarily keeps you from repeating the same discredited arguments over and over again, which I guess you believe makes them true.
We haven't won it all since drafting Francis, drafting Yao, trading for T-Mac, trading for Scola or signing Morey as GM. We fail.
The difference there is that we controlled them as assets and could trade them....with Ron, all the team got was a one year rental, and then he walked. If they traded Ron, then fine...but to get nothing for him.....makes it a bad trade, IMO. DD
See...personal.......if you can't force someone to your opinion Sam...resort to insults...... Maybe it would be better if everyone just agreed, eh ? LOL... DD
Judging from the results of the poll, it's pretty close to unanimous - that's why you're being blasted by about 6 people in this thread.
The minute we found out Yao was out for the season and Ron would have to be the #1 option...which is a bad situation for him to be in. Traded Artest? We would have tanked the season had we done that at the trade deadline. This thread is ridiculous
I don't think so....how can you say that? The team might have been even better, that all depends on whom you get back in return, doesn't it? The thread was meant as a question to see if people thought the Artest trade was worth it...clearly the majority do.... I don't mind people having a different opinion - that is the reason to post a poll in the first place. No need to resort to personal insults....... DD
DD, I hate to pile on because I like the fact that you are a big fan of the team and like to talk Rox hoops, but you are shooting yourself in the foot over and over again in this thread.
What would Jesus do??? All the fighting... All the hatred.... DD padding his post counts.... Can the season start any sooner????
Well, when 90+% of the people have a different opinion it is not going to be pretty. Fine by me....just keep it respectful... Until this thread my post count had been trending downward......I thought it might be an intersting discussion.....clearly....I was wrong. DD
Dude, we whipped Portland, a team that everyone was saying was going to contend for the title and who EVERY expert picked to beat us in 6 or 7. Then we go play LA and take them to the brink, almost winning...without Yao for part of it and without TMAC at all. If we had not traded for him, we would be stuck with Donte Friggin Green, a player that couldn't crack SACRAMENTO'S lineup and a late first round pick in a draft that had little depth. I just don't see how you can argue this...Donte Green has ZERO trade value now. If he couldn't crack the rotation in Sac, how would he have done it here? Therefore, had we not STOLEN Artest in that trade, we would have barely made the playoffs and probably would have lost in the first round again...Artest gave us a shot at contention, and we got him for NOTHING. Totally worth it. However, I am glad that we didn't resign him.
Ron didn't want to walk. He was basically shown the door. Sometime you have to let an asset walk because it could cost more than it's worth to keep that asset. If they had traded Ron, odds are that we'd be hamstrung by more undesirable contracts. That in itself doesn't necessarily make it a bad decision to let him "walk". The Rockets accomplished alot because of the trade and IMO more than they would have by trading Ron at the deadline.
