I never thought of this but it is a really interesting question. Technically he is an illegal president but then the framers were also technically traitors under the Articles of the Confederation.

I remember perusing through those book order booklets they give you in middle school and there was a book they were selling about random trivia of US history, and in the description it said how George Washington technically wasn't the first president of the US. Now I know why.
