Call it a stretch if you want, but aren't we just exercising choice? Of course it is silly; I'm just pointing out your blind spot for the child within...
You're right. However, I have a feeling that he'd have a problem with it being available in the first place. He forgave prostitutes but do you honestly think he was OK with the practice of prostitution? And it is obvious that none of you looked at what I wrote. I said Jesus is neither and provided an example of a liberal issue he'd obviously disagree with. I never said he'd be a conservative because he wouldn't be.
That "Jesuswasaliberal" article loses all credibility when it says that Jesus didn't advocate strict views on religion. He said the ONLY way to the Father is through Him. It doesn't get much stricter than that. halfbreed is correct. Jesus was not a liberal or a conservative, he was Jesus! As for Mrs. King, I would say she fits the modern definition of a liberal, which I think is unfortunate, because I think in doing so, she weakened some of the efforts of her late husband, such as her equating the struggle for civil rights for black people with the current push for special rights based on certain sexual behaviors. They are not at all the same, and to do so is a giant insult to black people and all others who have been persecuted because of their race/ethnicity.
Speaking as a liberal, I'd have to disagree with you. Discrimination in all it's forms is wrong. As long as someone doesn't hurt someone else, and is living their life, they should be free to live it as they wish. Keep D&D Civil.
I disagree with this: "she weakened some of the efforts of her late husband, such as her equating the struggle for civil rights for black people with the current push for special rights based on certain sexual behaviors. They are not at all the same, and to do so is a giant insult to black people and all others who have been persecuted because of their race/ethnicity." Keep D&D Civil.
That is what you wish King's legacy to be. It is an example of once the man is dead others twisting and trying to fit the heroes legacy to match their own ideas rather than what the man himself would have wanted. If we are to trust one person on what kind of efforts MLK would of supported his widow would get my vote over somebody that didn't know him.
Discrimination in all it's forms is wrong. As long as someone doesn't hurt someone else, and is living their life, they should be free to live it as they wish. Keep D&D Civil.
Well, I guess I like to try to imagine the best in people, and not be jaded by the way society is trending today.
