I sure as hell won't; he is a horrible commentator. I think the combo of Mike Breen and JVG will be much better off without him and his god-awful catchphrases. As for the coaching side of things, I would be pretty surprised if he ends up being a decent coach. This isn't the kind of hire that expected the Warriors to make. Does he have any coaching experience at all (other than being a PG)?
He is well respected around the league by front offices.... but then again so was Isiah Thomas at one time, Kevin McHale now, Kelvin Sampson...
Mark Jackson can barely speak English outside of catchphrases and cliches. He's a horrible announcer and will be a horrible coach. I'm calling it that he'll be fired in 2 years.
This offseason of coach hiring is weird to say the least. Mike Brown to Lakers Kevin McHale to Rockets Mark Jackson to Warriors And a lot of good coaches are out there looking in. smh
Good article on Jackson by SI's Sam Amick. I bolded the parts that are about Jackson's lack of experience in coaching, which I find interesting because it kind of relates to McHale and the Rockets. Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...6/06/mark.jackson.ap/index.html#ixzz1OYsFOpr6
He will be a failure, the guy is a complete moron, he can barely communicate on the most basic level during his commentating At least the greatness of JVG will not be dragged down by his incompetence anymore
CARL HERRERA, POST FOR POST, IS THE BEST POSTER ON CLUTCHFANS, AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE! HE JUST GETS IT DONE!
"We're getting killed out there coach." -"HAND down, MAN down!" "What? What do you want us to do?" -"Make a GROWN MAN move!" "I still don't understand, please stop talking like that & coach us." -"You're better than that!"
There is a God. Now I don't have to hear that man dribble on and on about his Mama and hand down on TV.
In all honesty, I'd take Jackson over McHale. Jackson had no physical assets, yet was able to stick around in the league for 17 years. I mean, he was slow, chubby, couldn't jump, and was an average shooter. But the dude could run an offense. I still haven't forgiven him for his stupid ass shimmy, but I give him props for being a very smart player. McHale was known as a black hole. The guy was awesome in the post, but I imagine Jackson probably has a more holistic view of the game than McHale. I'd take McHale as a big man coach anyday, but not head coach.
My problem with Mark Jackson wasn't his cliches, but when watching games that involved teams I knew very well, he displayed some serious ignorance about them. He doesn't strike me as well-studied or particularly sharp. The assistants better be able to carry him on their shoulders.
