I am sick of trading players in exchange for players that are on terrible teams. No more trading to Cleveland, Nets or even Warriors.
The article says they want to just sign him as a free agent during the offseason if they can't trade for anyone else this week if in reading it right. Sure. Yao will sign with you for $4M..... Just because.
Everyone just assumes that Yao is done and will sign for a nominal amount this summer, but I think Golden State's interest shows that he could demand a much higher salary than people think. The Warriors aren't the only team who would take a flyer on Yao for $10m or more a season. He could very well recover from this latest injury and put a bad team into the relevant category. Increased ticket sales and jerseys can't be overlooked either. It may not be cheap for the Rockets to keep him.
And he can't play right now. If not for dumping salary, I don't know why GSW's talking about Yao's production.
LOL what is this crap? Yao Ming got paid the max for the last 5~ years to go do great things for the Houston Rockets. He did squat, in fact resident whipping boy Tmac has done more for the team in the playoffs than Yao Ming, who always seemed to be in a suit when playoffs came. I'm not a Yao hater by any means but please don't turn everything around on its head and blame everyone else but Yao Ming, whose injury problems are no fault but his own. While Yao Ming may indeed have been a cash cow for the NBA and Les Alexander personally, the Houston Rockets franchise hasn't really benefitted a lot from him, and the fans who paid for tickets and seats certainly didn't have their hopes answered.
A bunch of Bulll craps. I said Yao/Tmac were surrounded by nobody when they were healthy, is that true or not? When KG couldn't take Wolves past 1st round, is that more on KG or on owner/GM? How do you know Rockets organization didn't benefit from Yao when the franchise value sky-rocked without much success in playoffs? Look at other teams around the league. True, fans don't get much, but it's not like they got a lot before Yao came. how many playoffs did they missed in a row? Since the 2nd year of Yao, Rockets had been in playoffs most of the time and had been a 50+ win team most of the time until he couldn't play. Isn't that beneficial? Now they are without Yao again and they can't seem to make playoffs again. And Last time I checked, Yao played several more playoff games than Tmac as a Rocket.
My what short memories we have. Yao has done more for this franchise in every way, than any other rocket since hakeem. Did you forget that he led this team past Portland in the playoffs, and what about his heroic Willis Reed-like comeback to inspire his team and fight hard in the Lakers series. Not to mention the millions of new fans he's brought over who've never even heard of the Houston Rockets before his arrival. He's almost single-handedly made this franchise one of the most profitable in the league. In this age of high priced free agents, there's no one more loyal to his team than Yao. Name another Rocket who's done so much for this organization? (don't you dare say that quitter T-Mac). Do you know how difficult it is to come back from serious surgery, time and time again? The guy's put more effort and commitment into his rehabilitation than you could ever imagine training 6 days a week. He's a selfless leader and excellent teammate who plays with a ton of heart so don't even try to downplay his accomplishments. I really hope Yao comes back from this injury so all you fake, unappreciative Rocket fans that constantly bash him can eat crow. But even if he doesn't come back, I for one will always view him as one of the greatest Rockets to ever play.
I am sorry that I can't buy your stuff. Even if you really are not a Yao hater, you certainly don't have much love for him (non gay way).
Not directly. But look at those Chinese shoe deals Yao's teammates got. Without Yao they wouldn't have one.
Yao does not have the leverage to demand anything at this point. People are denouncing his career, his trade value is almost zilch at this point.
