I have been saying that our offense is bad all year and that when we get to the playoffs, it will be a problem......when other teams play hard, and are better at offense, we can't keep up.

Defense doesn't win anything, Balance does.

I would reply to Kerr that, "If we’re rock solid, smart and tough, I think we’ll be in good shape.”

Half court offense and an inability to hit free throws will kill this team if they don't improve. That's not anything that anyone didn't already know. Golden State didn't come up with anything magical or new here, Kerr didn't invent the concept, it's been the same all season long. The entire NBA knows it. But guess what? More often that not, it didn't matter. The Rockets won 50 plus games anyhow. The difference is that Houston has to execute their game now against playoff teams. That's much harder to do night after night. Golden State was better last night, but there is still a lot of series left to be played.

Jalen, Fred, and Amen have to be better. Period.

What happened is exactly what a veteran team does to a inexperienced team. The Rockets will make adjustments. I still don't think we win the series but the experience we gain, will be incalculable for next year.

Right. I don't think this is much about adjustments at this point, they just have to be better. It really is that simple. If those three guys had an AVERAGE night we win last night. It's that simple.

We can over analyze rotations and this and that, but if even two of those guys had an average game, we win that game last night.

Was he effective yesterday in helping us get back into the game?

I mean If Jalen plays like that again he IS going to the bench before the series is over for whoever can hit a shot.

...and to be clear Fred was just as bad if not worse only because he played more minutes. The only reason he score more than Jalen was because he shot the ball 4 more times and managed to hit a 3 with one of those. Why Fred of all people managed to play 5 more minutes than anybody else on the roster while he was playing that poorly is beyond me.

Yep, they know if they win 1 more @HOU this series is over.

Last night when Jalen kept getting Curry in isolation, Curry was shutting him down every time. It was hard to watch.

FVV is just terrible, we've had this PG issue for YEARS now and Stone's #1 priority this off-season is to find us a solid reliable PG. He should be doing this before trading for Booker or KD.

Bro, I kept thinking the same as well. The rockets offensively drew up plays where they would have Jalen target Curry 1 on 1 and clear out one side for him to attack and Jalen for the life of him could not shake curry... like WTF, and they kept trying it over and over. Curry had JG LOCKED UP, it was embarassing. This was a TERRIBLE offensive plan by Ime and for the life of me i have no idea what JG can contribute offensively if he can't even shake their worst defensive player.

Rockets' first playoff game with this bunch. Expected jitters. Let the series play out. If we lose the series, that's also not surprising considering the lack of playoff experience. We'll see.

On a side note, this is why I hate Butler and Leonard. Fresh cupcakes that only play hard in the playoffs. This garbage needs to be cut off by the NBA.

The issue wasn't that Curry was a big physical impediment to Jalen - it was that GS was sinking 3 guys in the paint to guard two players - Amen and Alpi+ Green roaming to shadow the driver. Unfortunately Jalen wasn't smart enough to think that there might be someone open somewhere.

I'm watching all the misses on NBA.com right now - here is a brief story of each miss:
    - miss 1, blocked by Green after he blows by Payton - Brook and Fred are standing next to each other so Podz is able to guard both - bad spacing
    - miss 2, guarded by Curry, Green shadows - DB is wide open with his hands up at the 3pt line(although in fairness the shot clock was winding down)
    - miss 3, guarded by Curry, gets a decent look at a 3 but misses - Fred and Jabari are 5 feet from each other while Green is trying to ISO but Fred tells Jabari to go to the dunkers spot so Fred can be at the 3pt line(LOL)
    - miss 4 guarded by Curry, blew past him but the defender rotated off of Alpi to guard the rim - Jalen forces a shot and misses - Fred was open in the corner and Alpi was sealing the helper - this is on Jalen here for both not recognizing the open man and for missing a layup.
    - miss 5, beats Moody but Fred was crossing the lane at the same time basically bringing a defender(Podz) right to where Jalen had a seam - that being said there is a window there where Jalen could have had Fred or Jabari at the 3pt line since both their defenders were helping on the Jalen drive(Podz and Steph)....but he didnt need the window because Jabari was open with his hands up the whole posession while his guy was literally sitting under the hoop shadowing Jalen.
    - miss 6, gets a step on Payton forcing Jimmy to aggressively help but instead of passing to the now open Brooks, he resets and take a shot at the buzzer to end the half
    - miss 7, the Alpi screen gets him going downhill against Draymond, Podz commits to help and Jalen takes a tough shot over an All Defense guy with help whileFred is wide open in the corner
    - miss 8, misses a wide open 3 after an offensive rebound, gets his own rebound, then runs into FOUR defenders in the paint while Fred is unguarded at the 3pt line. Amen gets the miss and dunks it for a rare offensive play
    - miss 9(this is getting painful isn't it?) - missed a wide open 3
    - miss 10, gets the ball tipped to him after the missed shot above, then misses a layup
    - miss 11, beats Payton off the dribble but then forces up a bad shot in the paint with 4 defenders around him - Jabari was open in the corner but at this point no one is spacing for Jalen to find them so once Jalen gets in the paint Jabari starts crashing the offensive boards for yet another bad Jalen shot
    - miss 12, Jalen beats Moody but Green and Curry are sinking into the paint - DB wide open at the 3pt line

they havn't solved ****. Everyone knows you play the rockets by packing the paint, but we still are the number 2 seed with our limitations. We just played really bad the first game. I would say we can't play any worse than we did yesterday with the amount of turnovers and terrible shooting we had. We just need to play better, 1st playoff game i think a lot of players were a bit shook up in the beginning.

This cocky after one game in the first round? Stupid thing for Butler to say unless he is playing mindgames with the Rockets.

Someone tell Ime to put this **** onto a bulletin board.
