He means Rondo/Green will be traded somewhere other than Minny if Boston DOESN'T get Love. Absolute 100% best case scenario is Bulls to trade for Love, assuming we are out. Frees up Melo for us, opens possibility of Rondo.

Klay Thompson is so overrated. He's Kevin Martin at best.

If Minn makes that trade, they will not make the playoffs for another 4 years minimum. Pekovic has stats because he is on the court, but is a bottom-tier big man. They will never fill that hole in the middle.

Minny needs to get back at least Thompson and a top-10 pick for it to be remotely fair.

    Not true at all.

First of all, Martin is an incredibly underrated player by Rockets fans. He's not good enough to be your best player and that's why he is pooped on here. He was forced into a role he never should have been in.

But, Klay Thompson has show a 3 point shooting ability that is much better than Martin. Yes, Martin is a good 3 point shooter who can get over 40% under the right circumstances, but Thompson has shown that he is going to be over 40% at all times.

On top of that, Thompson has actually showed promise as a defender despite the up tempo style they play in GS.

I would love to have Klay Thompson on this team.

    Kevin Love and the Celtics?

I don't think Boston has enough to do a deal now. It's becoming increasingly likely Minnesota goes forward with Love. The pressure is off to do something by the draft because they're not involved with any teams picking high enough. The package of picks from Boston, they may not get a difference maker. ... What Flip is asking from Golden State is so rich. They're not doing Thompson and Barnes, which is what Minnesota wants. What's going on is Flip is going around, discussing deals that he knows aren't gonna happen and can go back to Love and say "Hey, we tried. See you in training camp."

Does Flip truly want established players in return or posturing?

You gotta get one or two things: Golden State could potentially give him his best package of players with Thompson and Barnes(who was misused last year). You gotta get a tremendous haul of picks or an all-star caliber player. Thompson is borderline, we can argue that. They feel that kind of deal will be there later. Saunders believes he can get this team in the playoffs and improve off last year and then look again at the trade deadline. It's becoming more likely they don't move him before the draft because the deals that are there now will be there later for them.

So they'd trade him during the season?

That's becoming more likely. They're looking for a one-sided deal. Golden State could give them that one-sided deal but aren't going to. They're not desperate for Love. They won't give up Barnes and Thompson. Besides that, the rest of the deals aren't good enough. Similar deals will be there at the trade deadline again.

Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Orlando, and Utah before the Celtics--none of them are interested in Love?

Cleveland, because of the Love factor, if we get Love, can we lure LeBron back? Those are two gigantic ifs. The number one pick has lost value because Embiid is injured. It's very unlikely. Milwaukee, Philadelphia, he wants to win.

If the teams at the top are "ehh" on the whole Love thing, let's say Embiid slips, could that inspire Minnesota to do a deal? Are they interested in Embiid?

I don't know. Embiid is a mystery to everyone. The only two teams with medicals are Cleveland and Milwaukee. Not every team may get access to his medicals. In the single digits of the draft, hard to take him if you have no medical info on him. Ainge is the one GM, in some ways Embiid has Danny written all over him. I give him a puncher's chance of doing it. Hey, let's roll the dice. This guy may be Greg Oden 2.0. It will be interesting how it goes down for him next week.

Teams will take him off the board, no matter how far he falls?

No. It becomes risk vs. reward. Orlando and Philadelphia have two picks in the lottery. You'll look at Embiid at 10(Philadelphia) and 12(Orlando). The teams with one pick, or Denver at 12 and Minnesota at 13, if he got that far, if you don't see a difference maker, he won't get past there I don't think. That might be the bottom end of it. People may get enough info and someone takes him(LA, Boston, go down the list). We're guessing. Teams are scrambling to get as much intel as possible. They'll all sweat this one out.

Medicals with Embiid--Cleveland & Milwaukee--you said Arn Tellem does not have to share medicals. Can he pick and share medicals? Simmons wrote that Tellem will love to get Embiid to Boston or LA. If that is true, could Tellem provide Boston and LA with medicals and freeze everyone else out?

He could pick and choose. Embiid did not go to pre-draft camp and take the league wide physical. They didn't have to do that and didn't. The back, they weren't going to let that float around. Milwaukee did the physical on Parker, Cleveland did Embiid and they switched. They're the only two teams with info on both of those players. At this point, Arn Tellem can control the flow of info and medical records. I don't think he'll share it with everyone. That is the agent's right.

Beyond Love, if you don't get Love, then what? Steve Bulpett said they may trade Rondo and maybe Green if no Love. Who can they get to put with Rondo?

There's always players available or that become available. Boston has lots of picks. Do they continue to take the long run or get veterans? Hopefully you draft well and gather assets and maybe the assets look better than they do right now. Minnesota is not dying for Sullinger or Olynyk. Green was available last year. Ainge will trade anyone at anytime but doesn't mean they're shopping. At any given time there might be a deal. Green was available last year. He makes a big number. If they miss the boat on Love, they will look at things differently. Sacramento will stay after Rondo. You could get McLemore and the 8th pick. They've been determined to get him but that may not be enough to get him.

as a fan of the wolves, I'm happy we'd at least get something back but why on earth would we include a lottery pick??? Kevin Martin is arguably better then Klay, Love is a superstar and Lee is a nice player but bad contract, Barea is just hot trash. Ridiculous trade for GS, but I'm glad the Wolves will still have a chance to somewhat compete next season.

@timkawakami: An NBA source told me tonight that the Warriors flat out will not do the deals that Minnesota is currently suggesting.

@timkawakami: One big snag: The source said the Warriors have no interest in taking back Kevin Martin, and so far Minnesota is insisting on it.

Pretty sure the Jazz won their trade, and after Karl's firing, who knows how Denver came out, prolly behind.

Considering NY gave up a pretty good haul for qhat might be a 3 year rental and did about as well as Denver (and that NY gave them a lotto pick for THIS draft)- Id say denver won.

JR, you're coming up big once again and im sure will in the coming days. I had to rep you dude... you're fantastic with keeping up with the news and bringing it.

So the Lakers want Philly's 2 best players and dump their salary on Philly at the same time? I wouldn't go for it.

If Kevin Love agreed to re-sign, giving up Klay Thompson for him should be a no-brainer for the Warriors. David Lee's contract is toxic.

Would anyone here prefer the tandem of David Lee & Klay Thompson over the Kevins Love & Martin? Anyone who says yes please explain yourself.
