Well, we did sign "no-name" player yesterday, maybe this is going to go through. ;)

Seriously, I had been thinking about what would happen if two teams swapped their lux tax cut players and then had each other exercise the lux tax cut so that they could resign with their original teams. If there isn't language specific to this, and one team threw in a draft pick, then I would think Stern would have a difficult time stopping it. It's not an attempt to circumvent the salary cap. The players salaries still count against the cap. It's an attempt to make use of the lux tax ruling in a way that most benefits them.

LOL. I think this is the best application "sura faints" I've seen to date.

Is signing "no name player" kinda like signing "he hate me" ?

What makes this post most irrellevant is the fact you cannot sign back your luxury tax cut for any reason without reoccurring the tax you are trying to circumvent.

That is an interesting thought. If Finley and A. Houston are exchanged and Cuban gets Finley back luxury-tax free, we may have to resurrect Clutch's Cuban/Stern photochop thread!

I believe that the one time amnesty rule is only allowed for players that were already on a team's roster at the time the new CBA goes into effect. That would prohibit teams from acquiring a player and then using the amnesty rule on them.

An aelliott sighting! Good to see one of your posts again. Maybe this also will elicit a Hottoddie response -- one of his good old-fashioned complicated multiple partner trades that at least made sense.
