David Weiner Retweeted · 1h Rockets will reduce their 2018-19 team salary by at least $3.4M (assuming Melton would’ve signed for the minimum) plus at least $7.9M in luxury taxes (at least $11.3M total) by trading Ryan Anderson and De’Anthony Melton for Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss.
This is funny, but I see this trade as more of gaining a valuable first round pick than saving money. Meaning.... I was already assuming Ryno was going to be traded in the next 12 months and the 2019 first rounder was all but gone with him. The ability to upgrade this team further just got exponentially higher. If Knight can show he’s healthy and 90% of what he was prior to his injury this deal is a slam dunk. Of course.... if Melton proves to be what the GARM is hyping him up to be then it’s all moot.
I honestly thought that once he bought the Rockets I might start to like the guy, but nope. Still cannot stand him. I've posted the stories about my father who worked on many of his jobs and what a dick he was to everyone, at every single job. Backstabber, **** talker...but he's got the money. I wanted to like him but it's honestly impossible. Still, go Rox. I'm not going to watch every game and read everything about them like I used to as I have stuff to do (this happens when you get older) but will always remain loyal to the team.
