I feel like Savage is ready to take the next step and be a good qb in the perfect non pressure situation and yet he sits on the shelf.
And BOB. I feel like people are trying to let BOB off the hook for this stuff when he has huge and probably most of the input
His main responsibility is coaching, which he has done pretty well with what he's been given. Any critique over the roster composition that can be attributed to BOB is likely speculation. What we do know is that Smith has the title of General Manager, and that's all we have to go on really, as far as his official job.
Who made the decision that the Texans will be okay with Hoyer and Mallet this year. No way we can defend the coach's talent evaluation and management when it comes to the QB.
I think that's been called into question and a little ambiguous. Even if he did, his primary responsibility is still to coach, which he's done a pretty good job of so far.
Sure it was called into question when it was obvious his roster decisions weren't very good. His decision to start Mallet is as horrible a decision as can be made.
A decision he's since apologized for. I'm pretty sure not a single person on this team right now is still lamenting or focusing on that... they've all noticeably moved on and are playing relatively mistake-free/mentally sharp football. BOB made similar adjustments /tweaks after last year's bye week as well. Sure, they're nowhere close to a finished product, but most people simply wanted to see improvement... along with a team that actually didn't actually quit on their coach.
They were 9-7 last year so not sure about improvement. I think if Bob was just a QB coach or maybe o coordinator, he'd be pretty good
As has been pointed out, he apologized for it. It's also what 99% of the fans/radio personalities wanted. Not sure why you're still so hung up on that. What has Rick Smith apologized for after all these years? Are you saying you want BOB fired? After he just coached his ass off today? Not sure what your problem with him is; seems like you have it out for him for some reason.
You said he doesn't have responsibility on the roster. I just brought up Mallet as an example of how he has shown (poor) roster judgement
I was referring to what people wanted to see after the disaster to start "this" season... the season he'd supposedly lost the team, lost the owner, and was on his way out as of 3 weeks ago. I'd also say they have more quality wins this year than they did last year... which pretty much simply consisted of beating Baltimore at home with Keenum. Still going to allow more than just 1.5 years for O'Brien to be judged by... he could certainly do a lot worse as a head coach than being above .500 for his career.... and plenty of those worse head coaches got a longer evaluation period.
