And Kevin Bacon went to...oh forget it. Sura I am ok with. Ward I can do without. I am suprised that Les changed his mind on this one (if the rumors were true about Les not wanting him last season because of his anti-semetic comments). Something else has to be in the works. We have too many players right now w/o a legit back up center on the roster. Ward Sura Lue Gaines JJ Pike AG T-Mac Boki Spoon MoT Howard Yao
I see what's happening here... Bob Sura's athleticism and height + Charlie Ward's guard sense and shooting. Ladies and gentlemen, presenting you're new Rockets' PG... Barlie Wara "Igor... HE'S ALIVE!!!!"
I think Pike will be delt with Lue getting the most minutes and Ward filling that backup PG role AND the 3-pt shooter off the bench role. I predect that Sura will be the "6th man" role (with Mo T "the energy squad" ?!?
C-Yao PF-Howard SF-JJ SG-Tmac PG-Francis ohh sorry guys C-Yao PF-Howard SF-JJ SG-Tmac PG-Sura/Ward/Gaines/(Lue-traded)
I like it (need to see the contracts first but all indications point to this being good deals for us) I think Lue and Ward will split time at the point and Sura will fill the sixth man role that Cat would have dominated in but alas he outgrew that long ago. These appear to be good role players who have been around long enough to make valuable contributions down the stretch.
Sura is more of a 2.He is a nightmare at the point. If we were going to get a hybrid 1/2(which I favor),this guy would be one of my last choices.
I actually like Ward as a backup PG. He'll provide some defensive intensity and be a solid role player. Sura will probably start and might play some 2 gaurd. At very least, Sura could play the gunner role off the bench.
If that were possible I'm sure we would have taken advantage long ago and made our Power Forward, Maulvin Tayto...
Yeah, and JJ and AG, too. There's too many people. All of them have at least another year on their deals. We must be trading some of them. Surprisingly, I don't feel much like speculating, at least about that. I am ...underwhelmed. We may need to just cut some guys, if we wanted to bring in a front court player. Hopefully, we can trade several of them in the backup center deal. The deal I am more curious about is the TE. I wonder what we're doing with that. Looking at the roster, and assuming Pike is a non-factor, we still don't have a shooter. I have to hope Howard can spread the defense a little, and that Tmac can use him to triangulate the opposition away from Yao, and that they can all pass the ball back and forth. We are really banking on Boki being a factor at this point. I'm a little uncomfortable with that. JJ is nice and steady, but we're going to need the Bokinator to be a ball-breaker.
Fortunately for him, the injured list is going away and they'll have 15 man rosters. Now, he can sit on the bench in warm-ups instead of a suit. I think the evaluation of the signings rests completely on the contracts details. If they used MLE money on these two, I won't be happy. I'm still disappointed not getting James or Jones or Daniels, and I doubt they can do anything to assuage that. Oh, the Sura signing might mean less playing time for Nachbar.
lol dude! Yao and Mutumbo, that'd be a hell of a conversation to listen in on. colin pine may have to interpret Mutombo too. haha, on man, your killing me!
Don't you guys remember that 3OT game vs. the Hawks when he was seemingly unstoppable down the stretch. It seems to me that he's pretty good at penetrating the lane. Which will work for about 20 alley-oops a game with yao and T-mac if he JVG allow him to do it that often(which he won't). But the guy can play!
