I hate to say this, but killing Hitler or Vader would've been a bit . . . IRRELEVANT.

    1. Hitler was the quintessential, embodiment of a real life, yet comic-bookish megalomaniac.

I had this conversation with this guy at work, and Germany had the tools and progress to be an elite player in the world, anyway. The world's best scientists, artists, engineers, doctors, athletes, architects, and etc. It talked about how far ahead Volvo (and I threw BMW) were compared to Ford and other American car companies. He started talking about the different classical musicians that came from Germany.

Hitler did accelerate things, politically and socially, and very instrumental. The country may have been lacking prosperity, but not in talent and maybe ambition. The county could've experienced another type of revolution or movement that lead it to global prominence or possibly domination. Moreover, the world has never been lacking in power-hungry tyrants, regimes and dictators willing to commit genocide in the name of conquest and desire. It's a what if kind of thing at best.

    2. Darth Vader, from what I remember about the movies . . . he was not the first Sith Lord (and if you count the comic books, graphic novels, or novelizations) ... he was far from the last one, like Palpatine/Sidious (who also hints that there has been a long line of Sith Lords). Even when the Emperor was killed, the Darkside did not cease to exist. He had underlings, while there were other malevolent forces in the universe. Vader was only minion (pawn) of the Darkside.

economic growth, an excuse for the executive branch to do things they wouldn't get away with during peace time and use as a distractor to other issues that would be detrimental to the party in power.
