Left is losing its mind that history is written by sociopaths. Right is losing its mind that it’s no longer cool to be sociopaths. I wish they found a way to destroy each other so sanity reigns again.
These people need lives. The Rangers were a protective force created by Stephen F. Austin because the Mexican govt wasn't protecting people well enough. But hey I didn't read for a whole week. Give her a doctorate in history already! One thing to note, if we can't name a team after anything tied to oppressors then we can't have animals that mean anything of significance because they are oppressing other animals... tigers, lions, bears... they are absolutely oppressing the rest of the animal kingdom. Also we can't have eagles because Nazis too had eagles.
As I said, that's not what they ended up being. I stand corrected, if that's the truth, on how they were formed. Doesn't mean I'm ready to change the team name. As others have said. That only leaves a couple handful of team names we can actually use. Maybe we should just cancel everybody. Hasn't everyone here done or thought something bad at one point?
You know who talks more about changing the Texas Rangers team name more than any Democrat or political leftists? People on the right who want to be upset about it.

I don't get it, if they were formed to essentially perform ethnic cleansing, and then in the 60's they were used to support white supremacy, and in fact there were protests in the 70's against naming the team Texas Rangers as well - why do you still support it? The Rangers can name their organization whatever they want. But if I were Latino, Black, or Native, I definitely would not support a team with that name after knowing the history. It's disgusting.
Do you really think it's as simple as if you did something bad at one point? I am not on board by the name change but you sound very shallow boiling the conversation down to that simple point. And you know that actually there is no groundswell of support for changing the name it's one person with an oped.
If we go by the Clown Suit era, we'd be the Flying Sharks. If we want to stick with your motif, we'd be the Sharky Dildos.
Interesting article. These pieces will serve less to change team names: which is definitely not happening with a non-racial team name and existing law enforcement agency, but are obviously an interesting means of discuss the subjects' transgressions. People who complain about erasing history seem exceptionally troubled having to hear it.
