I can't start a thread or a poll but I wonder who people on this board think will receive a bigger offer, Yao or chuck.

IMO I doubt we get Yao for the vet min, if we do that's awesome but I don't think it will happen, probaly closer to the mle that most on this board think chuck will get.

I know who deserves more and that's chuck, but yao's star power and marketing dollars may fetch him a bigger offer than the underrated Hayes...

I don't like this move, we got rid of Adelman.

    Rebuild properly...

That is correct, sir. I don't follow the playoffs much, at all, if the Rox aren't in it. But you're missing the point. Regardless of how Roy does, getting him to Houston would be a major setback for this organization since his knees will probably give up on him in a couple of years. Same thing with Yao, except his legs already gave up on him a couple years ago.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Yao was yesterday. We tried with him and failed. He's a really great guy to have around the organization, but it's time we move on and invest in someone else. Unless Yao wants to work in another capacity, assistant or scout or whatever... just not in a uniform.

I think you answered your own question. But, under current CBA rules, that is EXACTLY what their thinking would be.

I don't like that Adelman won't be back. But to say that I understand the reasoning behind what management (and Adelman) is doing, that doesn't make me a company man. It makes me someone who understands. Their are plenty of people who fall within that category.

And suggesting that the team take a chance by re-signing a former All-Star to the LEAGUE MINIMUM (while retaining his Bird rights and allowing for a potentially monstrous 2012 free agency bid) doesn't make me a company man. It makes me "not an idiot."

Nice sig, by the way. ;)

EDIT: Saw you changed your post. Thanks for realizing that the continued accusations of me being a "company man" were not worthy of posting.

Speaking of Bird rights, I think Larry has roughly the same shot at playing significant minutes going forward as Yao does. Think he'd sign for cheap? I guaran-damn-tee you he hit a shot or two still!!!

I understand the reasoning behind Yao for the vet minimum, but if it's a choice between Yao or another Thabeet-like prospect for a roster spot, I'd say go with the youngster. Might as well go all out in trying to find that diamond in the rough.

Besides, I'd like to see Yao take the place of Shaq on the Celtics next season. Get a final championship run or two in before heading off into the Shanghai sunset.

I have to admit that if it came down to between having the Chuckster and having the Vast Unknown of Yao, I'd go with Chuck, but something tells me that the decision won't be between those two. Just call it a hunch. Chuck will return, Yao or not.

Yao will not get that kind of deal. How many players with his kind of injury history ever get more than a two year deal at low salary? It doesn't matter how talented you are, you need to prove you can stay on the floor first. Grant Hill had two suitors at low salary, McDyess had to play his way back, Tmac barely got his gig with the Pistons, and Penny never even got another shot. Yao is still rehabbing, there's no way he gets the full MLE.

If he passes his physical, Yao returns. Scola is leaving.

I strongly believe there will NOT be a MLE in the next CBA.
