If you oppose Yao coming back on the cheap... you must be a moron. He could be a valuable backup center at a cheap price. And who knows, maybe more. He'd easily be our best big, that's for sure.

That brings in money to the Houston Rockets in all likelihood. More tickets sold. More interest, generally.

But the Houston Rockets are just ONE of Alexander's investments. He has more than one in China.

I see it as a waste of time and a potential distraction. I think it's time to move on. This man's feet can not hold up.

I could not care less if you think I'm a moron. :)

Oh, I'd jump all over bringing Yao back for the vet minimum, with the understanding that he would be rewarded if he stays healthy. That's a no brainer, in my opinion. Besides, as I've said before, elsewhere, I just like having the guy around. Yao's the walking (when he can) definition of a class act in the NBA.

No, its not that easy. If getting rid of Adelman was because we needed a "fresh start", then what's Morey's justification for holding to Yao when he's obviously never gonna be healthy? Where does keeping Yao equate in Morey's +/- stats? Is playing Yao 10 minutes a game gonna help Morey bring us the superstar his supporters claim he trying to get? What if Yao gets hurt again, will Morey fans make the same excuses when Morey fails to build a contender?

Lol. You guys are delusional if you cant see that Morey & Les are clowns. Yaos departure is the REAL change this organization needed (not firing Adelman). Bringing Yao back only justifies the organization's mismanagement of how to rebuild properly

We all know whats going to happen now

Yao is going to be the next head coach of the Rockets he is already pretty accustomed to be being in a suit on the bench anyway

Thats the key word right t here. If the conditions were to be similar. I don't think the Rockets would offer anything above 5 million for a year to see if his foot would hold up.

I don't think it has anything to do with stars coming here.

But I like how people bash Morey for calling players "assets" when they themselves treat players like just a bunch of fantasy numbers. "He hasn't been doing much for us. Let's slam the door on him even if he is willing to work for almost free."

    I would be open to a 10~15 mil over 4 yrs. . .. 3rd and 4th year team options.
Why not as a back up. Even if he is a starter at 15~20 minutes a game.

I am PRO-YAO in this situation. I think you bring him back.
If ILGASKUSUSJESU [whatever] can come back and pre somewhat productive. . why can Yao not?

I don't think there's any fantasy numbers to it. "Willing to work" is a relative term for a guy who has played 5 games over the past 2 seasons and is coming off two foot surgeries.

Because Yao is a lot bigger than Ilgauskus. Because guys who've played the game at 7'5" or greater have all had the exact same career trajectories, with injuries limiting minutes by early 30's and retirement by mid-30's....and none of those guys logged the kind of minutes that Yao has.

and a 4 year contract, RR?? the guy has played a handful of games over the past 2 seasons, and you want to sign him to a long term deal??? yeah, i'd say you're "PRO-YAO!" :)

It's official Yao will play in Rocket's uniform if he is clear to play. Le$ had made it abundantly clear. /thread

Now go fire Le$, or can we?

I think it's time for both side to move on. Yao should sign with a contender. The rockets should develop young players.

I don't know the CBA implications (assuming the rules are the same) but it wouldn't surprise me if Yao signs a one year deal with the Rox. If he gets injured again, he retires with dignity, if he stays healthy and plays well he gets rewarded by the Rox or someone else accordingly.

@Bima or other CBA experts - would this make any sense (putting aside the guaranteed money aspect of a longer term deal for Yao) from a CBA perspective (not knowing what the new CBA will look like)?
