Would you enjoy reading a book or watching a documentary where Morey shares all of the details about his strategy, trade negotiations, contract negotiations, and draft/player evaluation? This of course would be after he retires (with multiple Rox championship rings). I'm dying to get a real in-depth look at how Morey works his magic. It would be super cool if he recorded some trade negotiations on the phone and then years later we get to listen to how deals were worked out on successful trades, or even how negotiations fall apart at the last minute. I've tweeted this idea to Morey before, but got no response. CLUTCH: Maybe you can mention it to him next time you see him? My thought is that he could start preserving/documenting things now, a little bit at a time. For those that are interested, what would your book title be? I'd go with #MoreyMagic Edit: Looks like my poll question got cut off and I can't change it. The last part should read "... and player evaluations?"
i'd watch that documentary. it would be similar to the movie Moneyball... this can be called MOREYBALL
He's a Houston Rocket. I'd be interested in any documentaries of players, coaches, personnel, etc. Hell, I'd even buy a copy of a book discussing Kevin McHale's coaching strategies! All two pages of them!
Morey is known for bringing analytic number innovations to basketball management. Morey's greatest trait is probably, despite the analytics, he and his team just WORKS THE PHONES a lot, and are relentless. Just "canvasses" the terrain more than anyone else. Straight hard work and confident perseverance. Its one thing to identify a decent player. Its another to CONVINCE the other team to do a deal to give up that player (My personal perspective)
There is that animated clip of Morey dealing with Knicks Donnie Walsh, bout as real as it gets to real life negotiations.
It's days like today when I'd love to be watching a live documentary on Morey, seeing him get the news that Josh Smith got waived and listening to the strategy session they must be having right now. Keeping my fingers crossed so that maybe I can read about this in 20 years =)
this would be awesome. Hope clutch runs the idea by Morey. But i'm sure its something he's given thought to.
