I honestly believe the Rockets will stand pat with what they have. The best option for a backup 2 would have been signing Bryon Russell. Washington is going to sign him for less than the MCE, the Rockets could have offered him more. If we were going to make a move, I think we would have already made one. I guess Rudy and CD are going to give Oscar another chance along with giving Maddox a chance to show what he can do. While I would've preferred picking up a good defender in Russell, I'm not too worried about having Torres as a backup, he showed he could play well and just hit the rookie wall, everything will be OK.
IMO, your $45.8 million is a little light and does not include the $2.0-$3.0m the Rockets still must pay Matt Maloney. Also, can someone tell me when the Luxury Tax threshold was lowered? I have always seen it quoted to be in the $54m range. I just don't see how the Rockets are over the $54m level even if they use the entire MCE.
Taking Croshere and his salary is a real question mark for me too. I like Artest and can see him bodying up with so many of those modern day 6' 10" 3's .Sometimes he plays out of control on the offensive end,but he's young and we could use what he brings to the table. He is an enforcer also. The guy doesn't need the ball to make a difference...something that is always welcome.I think Artest would fit in nicely. OMT..We have to improve our perimeter defense.Maddox should help in this department, but I think we need more....and that starts with playing it as a team.
