You are describing the play correctly, and I was wrong to say he established his pivot foot during the second dribble. However, you are allowed to take 2 steps after picking up the dribble. What he does is he uses the first of those 2 steps to establish his right foot as the pivot foot. On the second step his left foot steps into the lane. Then he ducks under keeping his right foot on the ground. I'm pretty sure that's legal. If it wasn't legal, he wouldn't have even been allowed to even take a turn around jumper spinning to his right.
Thanks for the explanation. I guess that's how those guards do those fancy spin moves all the time on a dead run. I have tried to read the official rules on this, but they're nearly impossible to comprehend.
Enough people calling Wang sucks already, let me derail the thread now. Yao seems to be more aggressive in rebounding the ball back then. The player in black jersey had position and look how Yao pulled the ball away from him.
Wang was gonna be a solid player playing for the Mavs but his stupid dispute with the Chinese government got Mavs all scared and he has been crap with crap teams ever since. Dallas knows how to deal with international players and it looks like the other teams he went to play for don't. /shrug
According to a Chinese source, he made 30/33 3-pointers the first day he practiced with his team.....so yea he still can play I believe btw, sorry I can't provide any link about the Chinese source....I read it from a Chinese newspaper.
sorry I didn't say it clear, I mean when he got back to China earlier this month, he had a practice with his old CBA team, and he made 30 out of 33 3-pointers
The Chinese national team has already gotten Yao, so they don't care if Wang can play like a big man or not ....all he needs to do is to spread the floor for Yao, that's it. I think Wang can be a good weapon off a NBA bench, but he will never be a starter in my opinion. And sorry, I don't think he will get a spot from the our Rocket's rotation, unless he can improve his defensive awareness.
umm every single thread that has come up on wang.. the only reason wang comes up on this forum is cuz of Yao.. if u take yao out. . there goes all the chiense fans.. . and BAM no more wang posts.. i cna gurantee you all the other fan sites out there dont have threads going SIGN WANG.. wang is the answer.. wang this wang that.. blah blah blah..
Several years ago, a buddy of mine and I went to Dallas to catch the Rockets while we were there. Anyway, in pre-game warmups, we watched Richard Petruska nail like 26-28 3 pointers. Can't believe Rudy never let him play.
Wang is a very skilled player. I think that's why us Chinese fans are tempted to give him a chance. At this point - he's probably already shown what he's capable of in the NBA though and it hasn't been much. That being said, considering the overall quality of the Rockets roster, I wouldn't mind seeing the Rox give a Wang a shot at making the team during training camp. They do have experience dealing with Chinese players (the Rox's starting center is Chinese) and maybe be able to get more out of Wang than other teams.
3 of those are really travels. The only explanation to avoid travelling is that he GRAB the ball late enough to make another foot pivot foot. However, in those videos, I didn't see where the explanation could stand. I'm a Chinese. I watched Wang's games from 1995. IMO, Wang was talented before he was ruined by CBA(China B-ball Association) and the odd sports system of China. If he could just come to NBA 2 years earlier, he would never be called bum. He is on the lowest rung of the Fortune's ladder. And now, I must admit that he doesn't have the ability to stay in any NBA teams.
