for many chinese fans, its really strange why wang is now in such a tough situation.
when wang was in china, he was definately better than yao, yao only got his first title after wang entered NBA, before that wang kicked his GREAT ASS every time. so its not hard to believe chinese fans actually didnt have a very high expectation for yao, because when he went abroad, wang had already become a bench player, and he was thought to be even better.

Is that true? According to Yao's autobiography, Yao was chasing WZZ for years because Yao was several years younger. But I thought Yao said he finally beat WZZ's team. Maybe it was simply that WZZ was no longer on that team.

yao's team beat wzz's once or twice when wzz was still there, but was evetually defeated by wzz's team. then wzz left for the nba, then yao's team got a champ, of course, over the old rivalry but wzz-less.

to chinese bball fans wzz was jordan to nba fans. to a young, inexperienced yao, wzz was his idol. wzz indeed played center but he also shot treys and he led his team dominated the chinese bball for years.

In term of personal skills, Yao caught up WZZ before WZZ left, that is what Yao said in his book.

But WZZ never improved his game since he jointed NBA, especially his D.

Is Wang that good? All I saw from him was jacking a couple of 3s at the trash time.

Yao has achieved a lot in 3 years: 3 time all stars, and making the all NBA team (third team last season). That's something special for any NBA players, let alone a Chinese player.

Why are there always some people so high on Chinese teammates or more Chinese audience for Yao? I kept hearing the argument that there are more Chinese in LA and NY, so what? If Yao wants Chinese fans only, he would have stayed in China. He's a professional, and he's payed to play basketball, and I believe he loves playing and winning. Why would he want Wang ZZ? Lots of people say MoT is too soft for him playing 4, and Yao himself is soft, why would we want Wang then? Some say that Sura is not good fit for Yao, while he puts up great numbers, now, how could Wang be a good fit to Yao and to the team?

Why would there be any difference between 2 million Chinese population or half million in the city Yao plays? Why would there be any difference between a team with Wang or w/o Wang? Think, with some common sense, please. Even if Wang's impact is as close as MoT has on the team, I would NOT want him, given his tension with CBA officials and complicated stories back then. If I was Yao, I would avoid that kind of potential trouble as well, coz I might be in a difficult situation to please both sides.

    Absolutely NO.

All that need to be said. We dont need a center at all. We need another SG/SF or a PF.

sheesh some people are getting emotional about this. i dont htink he and Yao are great friends, but it isn't like thats is important to be a Rock. The man can shoot the 3 and is a big guy, I dont see why he cant fill a role similar to Ryan Bowen or what Robert Horry did when he was a Laker

If u read yao's book carefully and have some imagination u got to know a problem of china BBall, the BBAll stars are trained on dimensioned.
they are told focuseing on offsense side, seldom or never involved on defense. that's the way coachs prohibite their stars from foul troubles. wang and yao all should be consider as the sample whileas yao has much more advantage on his size.

I personally thought Cuban Used Wang as a publicity stunt when he played for Dallas....

Ever since then Wangs play has gone the way of dong.
