Ditto. If he's not good enough for the Clippers then he sure as hell isn't good enough for any other team in the league. It's one thing to take on the former Clippers that the Clippers released simply because they didn't want to pay them, but Wang is not a salary cap problem for the Clippers. If he was cut it was either because he couldn't hang or because the Clippers did a poor job of talent evaluation with respect to Wang. Given Wang's history in the league, I'm goign to have to go with the ladder. Looks like the CBA for Wang Zhi Zhi.

Imagine the chinese connection of Ming/WZZ. i believe if the rockets sign WZZ he could then be motivated. He could also tell Yao to screw the chinese national team and they both could focus on the rockets year around.Wang could be our big bomber and Yao would be our inside force. We would have a chinese twin towers imagine....

    Yao 7-6 inside presence
    WZZ 7-1 bomber
Jim Jackson 6-6 all around veteran
    Cat 6-5 slasher
    Franchise 6-3 the allstar

and when we have this nevermind about man-to-man we will just go 3-2 zone the whole time.

The second unit will be the best in the league with Cato, Pike, Mo, and A. Griff coming off the bench.

And when we do this i say cut EG

the lineup to start the third would be

    Ming
    Cato
    JJ
    Pike
    Francis

with this lineup we could then switch back to man-to-man for everone here but pike could hold their own.

Our PF and small forward spots will have the perfect contrast and oppenent won't know how to adjust.

BTW, how could he be released since he signed a two-year contract? Will he still get paid?

    I don't like him.

Although he has better athletism than Yao, he doesn't work as hard as yao. And he is not as smart as Yao

On paper, it is Rox best choice to have Wang as the backup center. Wang's problem is communication. He is not the kind of guy that Yao is, you know, open and lovable. He is a loner. He does not talk much and speaks broken English. That alone limited his playing time. To be honest, Wang has never get a good chance to show his ability and skills yet. He was a much better player than Yao when both of them were in China. Wang's team always beaten Yao's. But he basically got only garbage time playing in the NBA while Yao gets prime time ... After all, it is not easy to find a 7'1 guy in this league, especially a cheap one.

Someone posted that Wang could be a bad influence to Yao. I have to agree with that. But Yao is probably a very determined guy and not the kind that could be influenced easily by others. I would not worry about that. Hey, Yao could influence Wang toward the good side as well

With Cato starting at the PF position, the Rox has no backup center. If JVG could make this guy a defense presence, hell, sigh him.

When Yao was 18 or 19, yes , Wang was a better player than Yao. But not the case when Yao played final two years (20, 21 yrs old)in China and became MVP. Yao was so dominate that Wang had to move his postion to PF in Chinese NT.

Talking about Wang's team consistently beat Yao's, consider this, when Wang left, his team still competed for championship and won couple without him. But when Yao left Shanghai Shark, they could not even make the playoff and had to fight for keeping them in CBA. Yao almost single-handedly led them to championship!!!

Does that mean if Wang can't find a team, he'd be illegal to stay in the US? and you know he can't go back to China at this moment. I feel bad for him.

Does Wang have a 2-year contract? If so, how can a team cut a player with a contract?

IF the team is considering getting Wang, do you guys think that the management would ask the chinese gov beforehand if it was okey ?

Reason being , Im not sure if this is true but Im told in China they would not show a lot of LAC games coz Wang was playing for LAC .so If Houston gets Wang they may choose to not show as much Houston games in China

why would we want another soft tall guy who doesnt play defense. we have that with padgett.

yes i understand wang is a good passer, and it would be interesting to see wang and yao play, but it would only be interesting and not beneficial.

    Wang had any athleticism?

To paraphrase Michael Finley, "We can get those 3 points elsewhere."

WZZ's problem is that he plays like a prima dona; JVG's system is more suited for hard-nosed player.

but the biggest reason that the ROX will not sign him is it doesn't want to incur the wrath of the CBA, who had publicly branded WZZ as a traitor.

now that China has qualified for the Olympics, Rox may be able to persuade the CBA to play Yao on a limited basis in the summer, for non-Olympic years.
