well, it's no longer his choice if he pays him full price or not.

I think what he means is full price meaning the prospects he's willing to give up.

Justice apparently reported that Wandy has been pulled back from waivers and now will not be moved during the season

Yep, apparently Stros wanted Pomeranz, the prize prospect from the Ubaldo Jimenez deal, and Willian Rosario, one of the top catching prospects in the game. All that while wanting the Rockies to take all of Wandy's salary.

Don't blame the Rockies for saying no, that is borderline insane but don't blame Wade for asking for so much. This offseason, Wandy will be in HEAVY demand and will have all teams involved. The FAgent market will consist of 30 year old CJ Wilson and fringe pitchers. Wandy's contract will be a ridiculously good compared to what Wilson will get.

People within the game believe that the Rockies will make another aggressive attempt to acquire Wandy Rodriguez from the Astros this winter, according to Troy Renck of The Denver Post. There is $36MM left on Rodriguez's contract, but Colorado was willing to absorb that when they claimed him off trade waivers in August. The two teams could not work out a deal and lefty remained in Houston.

[rQUOTEr]Talking to baseball people here, they believe the Rockies will make another aggressive run at Houston's Wandy Rodriguez this winter. The Rockies were prepared to take on the remaining $36 million of his contract in August.

Talks stalled when the Astros asked for Pomeranz and catcher Wilin Rosario. Will Houston lower its demands, taking on someone like Alex White, Christian Friedrich or Tim Wheeler? Given Rodriguez's interleague issues, the Yankees value him at only $21 million over the next three years. If the Rockies show a willingness to absorb the entire contract again, a match can't be ruled out.[/rQUOTEr]

We already acquired Alex White, he's name is Paul Clemens...no thanks.

I would be very much open to Wandy for Rosario and Wheeler.

I didn't understand why they wanted Rosario in that negotiation. Is he supposed to be better than Castro, or were they looking at moving him to another position?

    Would prefer Friedrich or Arenado.

Wandy has to be dreading this possibility. Remember what happened to Darryl Kile's curveball in Denver?

Great for the Astros if they're willing to eat the whole contract and get decent prospects back.

Stros wanted to pump Castro up for the fan base due to the conditions of the farm system but he has his limitations. Castro isn't a great hitter and coming off an injury maybe limited. Rosario is one of the better catching prospects in the game. If you can get him then do it and worry about Castro when he comes back. Castro is a nice prospect but not a can't miss guy.

Gotcha. Guess the Astros sold me on that then. Makes even worse since they spent such a high pick on him.

Not a bad prospect, so don't me wrong, but coming off the injury and an already questionable offensive game...I'd rather have Rosario. I have heard Castro handles the staff very well and is going to be a stud defensively if he isn't bothered by the injury long term.

Rockies have talked to Oswalt, but consider him a longshot. May try again to trade for Wandy.
