Absolutely! Howard is a player. Now everyone is seeing why he was "predicted" to be a superstar. He shows tremendous skills and knowledge of the game. It's just that he's NOT worth $105 Million" like he was paid a few years ago. But he was worth his current salary (5 - 7 million per year). I think a lot of people forget that Howard has hovered around 18ppg his whole career (17ppg last year).
Don't remind me. He's that prototypical athletic, offensive-defensive, small-foward that we need. Him or a guy like Ron Artest. But you're right. I think that's why I think JVG likes Ryan Bowen so much. He works hard defensively and is just active all the time.
I don't really see how we can make any moves this year unless some team decides they want to hand us over a player for our trade exception? I do expect we'll continue to add pieces using the mid-level exception and veteran exception every year. I also expect that after this season we'll see high quality free agents fighting over our mid-level exception.
we defiantely need to address the PG issue. Everyone we got now is just temp while we look for the right guy
My $0.02 are that Walton's right on the money. Actually, the Rocks could stand to upgrade both F positions and PG, but the PFs they have will do for now. Luckily, neither are such a hinderance that the Rocks won't win & win a lot.
Well, after hearing Walton's comments about us picking up a point guard, I started to think that he may know about a deal that is in the works. He's supposedly real good friends with Ainge up in Boston, so maybe he knows that we may be getting Payton (for Nachbar?). It wouldn't surprise me since this was talked about earlier in the offseason and since Payton has been real quiet after reporting to training camp. Maybe they they told him that they are working on something and to stay quiet so that neither side comes off looking bad. Anyways, that's what went through my head when I heard Walton's comments.
I doubt it. Ward is good for the half court with yao and lue can run the court with T-Mac. I think we should sign Bobby Jackson or Jaric (spelling?) from the Clippers next season. As for the three im not sure. I love boki but i gotta admit he looks like a bust even thought it was the 15th pick in the draft. Jackson and Mo off the bench would be nice next season but ill have to look into free agency as far as the 3's go. Grant Hill can opt out of his contract but he seems to want to make up in Orlando. Myabe we can dump Spoon's contract on some team looking for and expiring contract. Im probaly getting ahead of my self considering were only in the presason.
Tmo sucks. We can get a better SF through our late, late 1st round pick, assuming we actually keep one one of these years. I would take anybody who can hit open 3 ptrs with regularity, just to have waiting in the wings until JJ is too old, and maybe reduce his minutes to a more reasonable level. A young Mario Elie would be great for this team.
This is a silly statement. Walton has forgotten more about basketball than 95% of the people on this board put together ever knew. Yeah, we should listen to fans who have never played the game over a guy who has 2 all-star appearances, 2 championship rings, and was the MVP of the NBA and the Finals.
And a guy who played for John Wooden. I thought about responding to the quote but let me just echo your sentiments.
Yeah, like Gater, I thought about replying to that too, however, I decided it must be sarcasm. I find Bill Walton annoying at times but I wouldn't think of questioning his knowledge of the game.
The Rockets would be smart to trade Nachbar for Gary Payton. Nachbar haven't showed us much for the three years he has been here. Now if we could only get Boston to accept Nachbar potential we could end up with Payton as our starter and Lue as the backup. Jackson is fine at the small forward position, we only need to find a backup for him. I don't understand all the fascination Kirk Hinrich, he has yet to prove that he is a NBA point guard. Personally, I would wait a year or two before jumping on the kirk bandwagon.
The roster is never set until we get the championship. I would say if something good comes along, we got to get it. Such as a Rasheed wallace, Tayshaun Prince. We need a good SF if TMAC is the SG
Both those guys are cancers to the teams they've played on - I'd rather take my chances w/ Sura, Lue and Ward
Boki only has trade value with lottery teams so... Bulls, Ben Gordon (potential to be a bust: 70%). Trade Boki (potential to be a bust: 90%) with Lue. Bulls gain a proven PG backup, veteran to guide Hinrich and the young Bulls. GS, Mike Dunleavy (potential to be a bust 60%). Trade Boki with MoT. GS gain a proven backup PF, but this being GS maybe they're willing to deal Troy Murphy instead? Not to be taken seriously
I do believe I was the one who said KH would not be a Bull opening night, and put $10 behind it. The $ will be in the Tip Jar if the status stays quo.
