It is kinda funny, but you're a man of his word. Its about to be dead around here in a couple of weeks and so my right-ness should be gone  .
Exactly, Patterson was the guy who was able draft Roy and Aldridge, the same GM that helped Houston put two championship banners here.
Pritchard can't save them that swiftly - the damage is already done with Amare chewing up that much cap space. Plus, Pritchard's developed a bad rep the last couple of years...GMs aren't excited to take his call at the moment. I'm personally hopeful that the Knicks bring over the likes of Gilbert Arenas and ensure long-term doom. Evan
The Old Mans gone, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Damn it why didn't they hire Barkleyey. Why didn't they pull A New YorK Move. They actually did something smart. Well at least we got the getting why the getting was good.
I can't personally name anything he has accomplished, but Chad Ford insists that he is one of the best GMs in the league. So much so that there is a name for when Kevin Pritchard fleeces you: a Pritchslap.
Off my memory, I can say he got Fernandez, who's pretty good and Batum, who's gonna turn out to be a real good player, I think.
He had a mess to clean up, and he's moved the Knicks along. But, I think you're white-washing the failure here. A rebuilding strategy that centered around something besides 2010 free agents would have left the Knicks more competitive this season than where they currently find themselves. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. But, this is the second shoe to drop for the Knicks. They had one disaster with Isiah Thomas and another disaster missing out on the big 2010 free agents.
If I am not mistaken, didnt the ROCKETS Draft Batum? We later swung Batum for RLWABB and Donte Green...so technically we traded Batum for a bag of chips and an Artest rental. Personally I would have LOVED to keep Batum, I think he will be better than Ariza.
Knicks' Walsh: 'I am not retiring' - New York Knicks president Donnie Walsh denied a New York Post story Friday that he was planning to retire because of health reasons and because of the team's failure to land LeBron James in free agency. Walsh had neck surgery two weeks ago to remove bone spurs and had to use a wheelchair when he and the Knicks' party met James in Ohio last week to make New York's pitch. Walsh also has survived oral cancer, having had the front tip of his tongue removed in 2008. "I am not retiring," Walsh said in a text to TNT's David Aldridge Friday morning. "I did have an operation on my neck which was successful, and I am continuing to work the offseason to improve our team." The Knicks spent the last two seasons clearing enough cap room to make a run at James, the two-time MVP who announced Thursday night that he would be going to the Heat next season along with free agent forward Chris Bosh. New York hoped to land James and another max-level free agent, but were only able to get one, former Suns forward Amare Stoudemire, agreeing to a five-year, $100 million deal with him. On Thursday, the Knicks agreed to a sign and trade of their All-Star forward David Lee to Golden State for forwards Anthony Randolph and Ronny Turiaf, and swingman Kelenna Azubuilke, along with a second-round pick. Lee will get a six-year, $80 million deal from the Warriors. Walsh's plan since he arrived in New York in 2008 was to tear the team's roster down, and he accomplished that, along with hiring coach Mike D'Antoni. But he was not able to land James, and the Post claimed that he would leave because of that failure. Walsh said he wrote the author, longtime NBA reporter Peter Vescey, and told him his sources were wrong. "I am not retiring," Walsh said in the e-mail. "There is no correlation with my neck and my tongue and I am working hard." http://www.nba.com/news/features/aldridge.2010.freeagency/?ls=iref:nbahpt2
Uh, no. Patterson drafted Martell Webster over Chris Paul and Deron Williams. That's his legacy. Pritchard (and his staff) is the one that did all the wheeling and dealing that netted Roy & Aldridge even though Patterson was still the (lame duck) GM at the time. Consider the source the next time you accept lurid storytelling as fact.
