Wow, that's surprising. I'm white and was once asked for my receipt when I was leaving Fry's and I looked at the guy (who was also white) with a surprised look on my face. I politely responded, "Really?". He just smiled back at me, and I grinned and gave a chuckle while we gave each other a high five.
I actually had a 65+ year-old man throw a punch at me at a Wal-Mart. I wonder what it is about that place that makes them crazy? Oh wait. It's Wal-Mart.
lol how hard is it to stop for five seconds of your life and let the man just take a glimpse at your useless **** and give you a check mark and not listening to the guy? idiots.
I'm an Aussie, white, average looking type of bloke. I always get people in shops watching me, asking to check any bags I'm carrying. I even get bouncers at some clubs hovering around watching me. I don't know why it happens, I don't think I do anything any different to other shoppers, but it just happens. Does it upset me? Not really. It takes 5 seconds to let them see you haven't stolen anything, and the fact is, they hardly read the docket at all, they just watch for your reaction to being asked.
INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! In court we are guilty until proven otherwise, don't let that be the case anywhere else!
Yes he can sue walmart for slander especially since they were first accusing him stealing and then accusing him of assault. This guy is going get all kinds of money. Walmart will settle and probably fire the old guy in the process.
Wait - outside of the alarm going off, where has Walmart accused him of stealing? As far as assault, the employee didn't engage the person according to the article. He simply followed him to his car with a clipboard. The person did not have the right to grab the clipboard from the Walmart employee. At that point, the employee has a right to defend himself. I don't see the problem with the assault charge.
Did you even watch the video? There was no car. The old guy almost tackled the shopper as soon as he got past the security sensors.
I was just going by the article. But looking at the video, none of this makes sense. The guy in the video appears to be entering the store, not leaving. It seems that the Walmart employee is following him into the store and then they get into a fight. I can't tell who started that one, and I don't see what exactly happened with the clipboard. I don't have any idea what that video is showing, to be honest. It almost seems like a different incident. The guy's coming in, not out. There's nothing about a parking lot or following the guy to the vehicle, etc.
It looks like the customer had the clipboard in hand when he walked in and started flipping through it when the associate attacked him.
Honestly I been hassled like that my whole life. and Just about every other person of color i know. When we talked out about it. . . folx just said we were b*tching about nothing. these guys were fortunate. Rocket River
