That would be my only issue with the signing. I like Balkman and the energy and hustle he brought off the bench in New York and was quite surprised the Nuggets sort of buried him on the bench when he could have been an asset to the team. Wally is the better offensive player though and can space the floor for that team, but with Billups, Smith, Melo and to a lesser extent Afflalo they have some shooters on the floor so it seems Wally's greatest asset may be a bit redundant. Balkman can be that larger sized, athletic swing man defender they can bring off the bench. Anthony Carter while a good defender is a bit undersized against most of the decent 2/3 players in the league. Its not a bad price for Wally and even if its just situational minutes or scenarios its worth it. Now if he can past that nasty foul he took in Denver years back in the playoffs then he can be even more productive. (wasnt that denver when he went for that dunk and was undercut and fell hard on his back?)
yeah sure the BOBCATS have better defense than Nuggest ? I mean what they want to do, see who is fastest 2 score 200 points lFMAO!?! If all the other top teams are stacking talent just for arms race purposes (dubious exclusion of Iverson), good value pickup. For less than what Brent Barry makes
His contract is a bargain for a designated shooter. Like what was mentioned in one of the post, He will replace Kleiza's role. Shooting the three is/was one of his strengths so they would probably use this to the hilt. He and Smith would jack up those threes like there is no tomorrow.
