Szczerbiak is just as much a punk as Vince, only with less talent.

My Dad had a dog once that was as playful as all get-out. He would jump and play at the drop of a hat. A real show-off. Nothing would distract him from getting into laundry, under your feet, shadowing you all day nipping playfully at your pant legs.

But when my Dad went bird hunting with him, the dog was all business. Point as rock hard as a statue. Retreive with speed and unwavering focus.

Sometimes during the day he would get especially valuable and do something that made us proud. He'd retreive from a cold lake with an especially long swim, or sight a bird in a thicket as thick and dense as my mom's apple crisp. When that happened we would lavish praise all over him. Patting and rubbing him, "good boy"-ing him, offer him a treat.

He would wag the tail a couple of times, step back, shake himself a bit, then leave us there and start patroling again. All without having us command him.

    Still focused on his job.

Vince Carter could learn a few things from that dog.
