Looks like she turned a simple warning into a trip to the jail. If the officer asks me to put out my cigarette, I'm putting out my cigarette. If the officer asks me to get out of the car, I'm getting out of the car.

I've been stopped numerous times, I don't like it, and it's not fun. I even got arrested once. But, if the officer tells me he's only giving me a warning, I would be one very appreciative person.

I don't know what happened at the jail house. But there was no reason for her to be so uncooperative. It was her own unnecessary behavior that ultimately caused her to go to jail.

Just do what I do. Follow the instructions the officer gives you. Accept the warning or the ticket and move on.

It comes down to respecting authority...even when they are wrong or out of line. Once the situation is over, you deal with it appropriately.

 

She didn't act like a saint but nothing she did was aggressive or deserved her being arrested until this turd cop escalated the whole situation by saying he was gonna "light her up" with a taser and would drag her out of the car. This guy has no business being a police officer.

Write the ticket and move on. Instead this cop flushed his career down the drain. And now a lady is dead.

 

That cop was on a power trip. There was no need or suspicion to force Bland out of the car. He asked what was wrong, got an answer he didn't like but should have expected, and couldn't force Bland to comply to put out her cigarette. What was the charge to get her out of the car? She was arrested for resisting being unlawfully forced out of her vehicle.

She shouldn't have been so uncooperative. It's best to keep quiet, follow commands, and limit your interaction with the cop. Instead, her talking back and constant goading fueled his ego and power trip. That's not illegal, though, and she didn't deserve being jailed for it.

Cop should lose his job. He's not fit to be one if he goes on a power trip once his feelings are hurt.

I still don't suspect any foul play in Bland's suicide, though. At a very emotional, pivotal point in her life, I could see her suicide as very plausible. I think it was a poor choice, though. She would have easily won a settlement.

 

LOL she was a total moron, I can't say the world is a worse place now that she killed herself.

 

The officer could have handled it better but Bland was looking for trouble.

 

No way, he was being cool and was going to just give her a warning...until she acted like a complete fool. He didn't do anything at all wrong.

 

Unlikely she would have "easily" won a settlement.

 

Also, how come I never run into the really cool cops who are just looking to give people warnings when I get pulled over?

 

You are an absolute *******. The world is a lot worse for people who loved her and were her friend, my friends counted among them.

I can assure you of this, more people will miss her than would bat an eye if you disappeared from this site forever. Maybe the world isn't much different without her for most people, but this website would be a million times better without YOU.

It's tragic that she's dead -- but there's only one person to blame for her going to jail -- herself. That's 100% clear.

Both parties are at fault to some degree. Personally, I expect a police officer, who is paid with our tax dollars and trained to diffuse situations like this....to be able to handle this in a professional manner. Give her a ticket and walk away. That is his job.

There was absolutely zero reason to ask her to get out of the car or to ****ing threaten to "light her up." This dude is as unstable as this lady. You want to wear a badge you should be held to a higher standard than someone who is frustrated over a complete bull**** traffic stop.

He proved incapable of handling a situation like this and should never wear a badge again. End of story.

 

I realize that this place is not nearly as fun as it used to be. There isn't a section I like that bobby hasn't ruined for me.
