I don't care if he looks like Bill Cosby. You are a traitor if you have citizenship here and do what he's done. At minimum "aint no sunshine" for him....ever.

I agree with you that race shouldn't matter in this situation. And, I also feel that this charge of "aiding the enemy" should flat out be a treason charge and that they should go for the death penalty.

Unfortunately, however, I feel that race does matter to certain individuals with the power to decide what to charge the man with.

This feeling I have makes me very uneasy and very very depressed. I am looking for something that will contradict it so I can let it go.

I'd prefer we just leave hm over there. Why should Walker get preferential treatment. He cast his lot with al-Queda and now he should stick with them and suffer whatever consequences they and the Taliban do at the hands of the Northern Alliance.

You people give me a damn break! I am the last person in the world to blame anything on racism. I am a brown person living in American and I have barely ever ever felt any racism. Even after 9/11!

I dont care if this dude is white, brown or purple. But I freakin gurantee you that if he was an American citizen who was originally a Muslim from Pakistan he would definitely face treason charges.

Instead he is a misdirected middle class caucasian with nice little Christian parents. So of course he cant be really bad?

I am not saying that this is the only reason he is not going to be charged with treason, but it sure as hell helps his case.

There is, of course, no way for you to substantiate this. And your conclusion is offensive. Is there racism in the US? Yes. Is every decision predicated on the basis of race? No, this is just absurd. If you truly believe that then I wonder if you think there is ANY place where race is not the sole determining factor in EVERY decision. Remember that every race discriminates, it isn't just white people.

I won't "give you a damn break." We're not out to get minorities, and as a white man, I find your remarks offensive.

How and where are they going to import two witnesses (the legal threshold) to testify against him? That's the legal requirement. Walker got lucky.

I couldnt agree more. Brown people discriminate, white people do as well as black people. I am not saying white people are racists at all. All I am saying is that being a white dude in America is just a little bit easier then being black or brown. And the same could be said for any country. I am sure a white person would feel the same if he were in an Asian country. Over there being brown is a little bit better for you then being white. Does not mean the whole country is racists. Its just how the world is.

Regardless, R0ckets03, I don't think that race played any part in this case. Your implication that this guy is getting off easy, whereas a brown man would be tried for treason and get the death penalty, is just nonsense.

It's a legal issue, not a race issue. Most of the country (white people included) would love to see this guy be tried for treason and executed, but the prosecutors apparently don't feel that they have enough to make a treason charge stick. So they will go with what they can prove.

If he was a brown man and the prosecutors didn't feel that they had enough to get a conviction for treason, then he'd be tried with the exact same charge. Legal issue...

    As usual, treeman, I AGREE!

Did Timothy McVeigh "get off"? While it is true he expedited his sentence, he certainly would have been executed as will his partner-in-crime. Proof that color doesn't make a difference.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I was not really thinking when I said that. I have been known to open my mouth before thinking and this is one of those times.

I guess what I said is what I "wanted" to believe. But after thinking about it, I am guessing a brown person would face the same consequences.

So I would like to apologize to any people I have offended.

Apology accepted, and thanks. Racial crap sucks. I know its easy to think one way, and later revise it all. Happens to us all.
